im a contracter for fedx ground and i know the high cost to keep my truck on the road its a int p-1000 step van 28'long
well im going to get into fedex c/c and my credit is not the greatest from dumb things in the past when i was 18 but im fixing it right now it is fair. anyway im selling my truck and route in a month or so and im gonna need a d-unit..
so whats the avg truck pymt for one and avg cost of a pm/oil change a month
houseworth wants 40% of the first 8000 a month and 30% after.
pays for all fluids(expt gass),repairs,towing,tires,pm's,regs,ect..ect..
you can cancle anytime with a thirty day notice
if your with them for 6 months you get 1000 bonus and 100 a month after that..so if i can not find a cosighner to get a truck should i go this route and fix my credit and then buy my own truck
any info would help thanks.....n.best

I think Ed Houseworth is a good way to get your feet wet and see if this lifestyle is for you. There is no long term commitment and no fixed payments to worry about. The only thing that would concern me is that he wants you to have a 90% availability rate. This means that in a one month period of 30 days you can only take off for 3 days. You could have family or medical problems that might require more than 3 days off per month plus you might just need a rest.I would try to get the availability down to 70-75% and see how it goes.

This seems high to me. As a Ground Contractor (my neighbor has a 1200 and a bulk truck with them)I'm sure you are familiar with Bush Leasing, They are back in business and have contacted me to lease new or used unit from them. I purchased a repo from them earlier payments are 800 a month

However this doesn't allow the flexability to bail out

Good Luck

Is fedex cc the only company you are willing to go to??? I have some names and numbers of fleet owners that have their trucks with another company that need a couple trucks filled. According to your rates that you said Houseworth pays, they pay the same except no bonuses, but they pay tolls, Houseworth didnt, if I remember right. And there is no set rate for availability, although they would want you to be out here more than home, which isnt too much to ask.

By the way, to answer your question about a average truck payment.. I think I would be safe in saying $1400 a month. Some pay more, some less, but I think this is a good average for a "D" unit.

RE: Great Program

Keep in mind Housworth has a system to keep you rolling. They have accounts with Freightliner, Speedco Blue Beacon and COMDATA. Most small fleet operators do not have a "network" like that available to their drivers.

While their system may not be for everyone - they have an outstanding program and we have only heard good things about them.

RE: Great Program

The Housworth's always treated us like family. We drove for them for about a year and they took us into their home, furnished a courtesy car, paid motels if we broke down. They were always available 24/7 for any need. previously we had driven for someone whom you could not reach if you needed help. They are truly fine Christian people and always try to help you. They know that if you stay out about 90% of the time that you will earn high income but they understand family emergencies, vacation time and sickness. They truly have a great program and sold us the truck we are now driving for no down payment and financed it themselves. We visit them whenever we are in the Atlanta area. Also their program has no up front costs. They even fill your truck with fuel when you sign on with them. If you find that expediting is not for you, just give them a 30 day notice!
Highly recommended!

Can't go wrong with Housworth's

We came to the Housworth's a year ago, being new to expediting. They took us in, showed us the ropes and have been like family ever since! Their program is very reliable and honest; you won't find a better way to try expediting out for the first time, or get on your feet after a fall. Show them your willingness to work and do your best, and they will take care of you 100%. Always available, always willing to help, and always reliable. They have a very knowledgeable staff including an experienced maintenance director, accountant and of course Ed & Ruby themselves were expediters so they know the biz. Our own success as expediters started at the Housworth's and we would recommend them to anybody!

RE: Can't go wrong with Housworth's

I sometimes get a laugh out of the availability rate term. I would ask someone who wants me to have a 90% availability rate if the places they lease the truck to will have loads for me 90% of the time I'm out. That's sure to generate a chuckle or two:7
