You have to do your homework. Sometimes better deals are to be had by booking directly with the chain (not individual hotel) (800-4choice)among others. Another thing I have noticed is that the higher price hotel have the bigger percentage discounts.(Hard to take half off a $30 room) Also, its a CLC policy that you get 24 hrs in the room for 1 days rate. (no matter what time you check in) Some hotels will give u a hard time about this but just make sure to get a receipt with correct check in and check out times. CLC will only pay 1 night stay for 24 hrs or less. I was told there was no need to "argue" with hotel staff due to all bills being audited by CLC. Just get that receipt as proof of the times. If hotel refuses to provide this, just call CLC right then. Personally never had a problem.

I had no clue that you can stay a full 24 hours with the CLC card. I've always just checked out when it was check out time. Is is written somewhere on CLC's website so I can print it out just incase I run into a problem next time I try it?

I've enjoyed CLC for a long time and never knew about the 24 hour thing. I could not find it in the website so I called the member # and the lady said she didnot know about that but it might have been a particular hotel policy

No... I was told it was all hotels doing business with CLC... call again ask a diff person. Unless they changed it very recently. Did you call 888-545-9391 ?? Ask for someone in the auditing dept. Sometimes the customer service plp dont know up from down. Sad but true.

Rule #7 VERY important!

Disputes: CLC will use reasonable efforts to assist Customer in resolving any transactions disputed between Customer and a hotel, provided, however, that CLC shall have no responsibilities (financial or otherwise) for such disputed transactions. Final resolution of disputed transactions is the responsibility of Customer and/or the hotel.

Rooms designated for CLC are usually uppers and in the back. The hotel can even refuse the CLC card when special events. Since motels/hotels are usually FRANCHISE operations..the 24 hour rule does not apply at most! And if you don't like that...then RULE # 7 would apply!!

As far as expediting is concerned, I have yet to ever stay in a motel, but I have while traveling with my wife on vacation.

For the road, I have the CLC card just in case I have a memory lapse and agree to take a load to North Dakota in January BEFORE looking at the weather maps.

Normally, I simply go online and get the internet rate for the particualr hotel we need. The internet rate beats the AAA, Senior, AARP, Corporate, etc. rates everytime.

From simply accessing the CLC website, it appears to me that the discounted rate, plus the $4.95 fee is on par with the rate I get directly from the hotel chain's web site. The advantage for me would be that booking through the chain's website eliminates any billing disputes and one less layer of involvement or paper to track.

OVM... I'm not sure what to say. I just called CLC today. Asked about the 24 hour deal. Answer was plain and clear. It's in the contract that the hotel signs. 24= 1 night stay...period. Even if they tell you at the hotel that its 2 nights, CLC will only pay 1...period... not sure who everyone else is talking to.... and i have never had an issue, even tho I NEVER check out at the hotels check out time... I'm in Quality Inn tonight...normal rate $75 plus tax...CLC rate $36 plus tax plus CLC $5...good deal even if I did have to get out at 11:00.... but I wont..... Besides even if the hotel wanted to charge for 2 night...lol...they dont have a way to charge other than the CLC card... dont even show an ID most of the time....

Thanks for the info. I must be doing something wrong.. I tried to do a search to see available motels.. tried a bunch of places.. michigan, ohio, ann arbor, toronto, ontario, boston.. they all came up with 'zero' found for any of those locations.

i have found very few motels that dont take the card, but some of them want one for each driver,we only have one card,we dont use it.I have also found some motels that it was actually cheaper not to use the card, cause after the 4.95 that clc charges, the truckers rate was cheaper.it was stated earlier, you also have to watch your statements, you could get charged twice for the same stay, but clc will fix it.

The rule IS one card per occupant. However there are some that don't go by this rule. Some will charge $5.00 + tax for extra person. So if a team add this to your calculations. Sometimes the coupon books are cheaper by a couple bucks.

If there is a special event in town like NASCAR or a convention they don't accept CLC. You may want to call them (motel/hotel)in advance and find out.
