I just read that land Line article about the Conway Lady that had a long wait to get unloaded in Long Island NY and could not run her engine for heat. When the new rules go into effect she may have had to wait an additional 10 hours before she could get warm,or buy a Motel room.Last Saturaday a bus passed me carrying a High School football team to a playoff somewhere. This was not a school bus but a normal bus ,so I assumed there was some distance involved. Lets say the driver went on duty at 0600,picked up the team at 0700,drove 200 miles ariving at 1100. They play the game ,it is over at 1700,the team is not ready to go back until 1900,the driver now has only 1 hour to drive with. So these school districts will have to charter buses with 2 drivers or put their team up in a motel. Who will pay the additional costs, you and me.
I have sent an e mail to my congressional rep voicing my concerns about these new rules,so far no reply.Since 2004 is an election year when the various candidates come looking for their PAC Contributions and they are told"Sorry we had to purchase more equipment and put on more drivers,so there are no bucks for you", then we might see a change.
