Does anyone know if the Hoover dam bypass is done yet? I was thinking that it was going to be close enough to the dam to at least get a glimpse of it. In the pre 9/11 era,it sure was a beautiful road to drive a truck on...great scenery.DD.

I remember the 1st.time I saw Hoover Dam, it was back in the mid-1990's.I was so excited that I was hanging out that passenger window, just a regular old tourist...keeping a running comment for my husband as he was trying to drive and trying to see what I was talking about.
As a "country girl" who had never really been anywhere or seen very much...WOW..its been a wonderful life for me.

I went over the Hoover last September ('07), and the bypass was coming along well, but still had a ways to go. The last parts they need to do are very weather dependent as the winds wreak havoc with cranes and loads, and it's pretty darned high up.

Once the bypass is done, it will give you spectacular views of the dam from way above it, but for sure there will be no stopping for any reason. There has been an ongoing series of shows on the process of this mega project on TV through the past couple of years and it was a thrill to see it in person, even at 30mph!!!
