My old FL 70 has developed a crack that is growing on the hood front end near the grill. Question, are there fiberglass repair kits and are they easy to use. Hate to pay a shop $90 per hour fro a minor repair.

Yes, any autobody supply place will have the materials. Cut your mesh, mix the two part resin together, and your in business.
Repair on the underside, and it should come out pretty decent.

if you are going to do this yourself, first check this link out.

and

Buy some supplies, don't try to do this without safety stuff - gloves, stirrers, mixing cups, etc... Also get a roller to roll out air in the matt.

You may spend $40 or $50 on supplies but you can do a few repairs with that amount of money.

Hi Rich this is from Linda:

Buy a new hood or a new truck it would be a lot easier.

This is from Bob:

If the crack is caused by stress take it to a professional because it will crack again at the same point. Where he was a mechanic before they tried to repair several hoods and never had any luck if caused by stress and not by impact. If it is a stress crack check your hood hinges and mounts at the cab because this could be causing the crack. Just a thought.

Either way good luck!!

I don't know anything about fiberglass repair but maybe it's time to update to a post-war truck? :+
