Finally purchased mine on Friday after 2 years of thinking about it. Wow! Should have done it 2 years ago. If any of you have been thinking about it, Do It!

It really is super quiet, powers everything I have with ease, can charge my house battery while running everything I have, very light weight, has ran for more than 14 hours on a tank of gas the last 2 days I have had it and starts on one pull.

Now I know many of you know this from experience but wanted people who have not purchaed one yet to go for it, make your life easier.

Dreamer, the following is what I was running. I did not have every item on the whole 14 hours but close, I was doing my own little test yesterday and today. With fuel saver on, I never noticed the engine speed up at all. Going to test it on an A/C and heat unit when I get back home.

Charged house battery 4 hours
TV/DVD
12' rope light
Laptop
CB
10" Fan
4" fan
Small Frig

That's it for now. No A/C yet, that and heat, to maybe replace Big Buddy heater, next.

the honda is really stingy on gas and with an auxillary fuel tank it will run a window unit on ur van for at least 3 days I heard, but I have never heard complaints, they just run and run and run and light weight, its worth it, imho

A long time Honda user here..tried many a thing with my first one that last almost 6 yrs with a gazillion hours on it..
Electric heat will suck up your gas real quick...a 1500 watt heater is the best you can do and that ain't a lot of heat DEPENDING on your van setup and your insulation, maybe it'll work for you....BUT at best you'll get about 4.5 to 5 hrs on a tankful, you'll need the auxillary tank setup to get a full nights sleep....

@Moot, I purchased and used the DC charging but like, and going to use my 110 charger.
@OVM I figured not to expect such luck on fuel efficiency with heater but my van is well insulated and if I use a small heater and maybe second tank this winter I will be just fine between 35-40 degrees.
I hope my gen last 6 years.

Just change the oil..I have a spark plug socket and whenever I think of it..I'll take it out and use the wifes nail file/emery board file and brush it up....LOL she kills me for that one...hehehe

Well ya get about 5 hrs sleep and then the gen shuts off, takes about an hr. til ya feel the cold, get up for pee time anyhow and refill it...without the extended tank!

One good thing, inside windows don't freeze up with electric heat.

Try a ceramic room heater instead of a heat strip. It kept my Sprinter warm, but then I have a dedicated "sleeper".

My Yamaha, (like the Honda), is also a 2000watt. The only issue I noted with it is the a/c trying to cycle. If it is left on full bore position, the generator will run it on low speed. When it cycles, the generator has a hard time getting it going, sometimes it takes 3 tries. (A/c start up can pull as much as 2400 watts on an 800 watt unit).

Additional: My batteries, all of them, are charged by a 500watt converter powered by the shore power, (or generator),

My conversion has nothing except the converter and a/c, (or heater), being powered by the shore power. All the "goodies" are powered from an 1800 watt inverter. My fridge, microwave, coffee pot, electric blanket are all from the inverter.

One word of advise, if you do get an inverter, invest in the best! It's better to spend the money up front than buying 2-3 of those Cobra thingys.

As OVM said, CHANGE THE OIL and do it frequently..i change the oil in my honeywell every 60 hours..it takes less then half a quart, and it will keep your honda running troble free for along time....

One of the best things about these Honda EU gensets is its well regulated AC power, Most gas Generators dont have the SYNC and steady state output the Hondas do, Ive sued these in many locations for outdoor remote video shoots and all sorts of lighting and sound systems, The steady state out put wont burn up your electronics from sagging and drooping like many generators will do when a Larger load is presented, I will tell you if you stay away from Orange extension cords, Find someone to build you or buy a 12 ga or larger extension cord that most things will work better, start faster because the larger cord can carry more current/Amperage, Where the little chaep extension cords will burn up and catch fire......I built a small distribution panel and outlet box that allows 35 Amps of current to be delivered for startup loads etc...heavier wire and RATED outlets for 20 amps....

If you feed all the output through an inverter, it is cleaned as it goes .... then a "cheap" generator will work.

I've read the EU2000 will last about 6000 hrs at which time the plastic oil slinger will break and soon fry the motor. Here's some nice accessories for the EU, especially the oil drain tube (disclosure; no affiliation with seller).

If you do an extended fill fuel tank, make sure the tank is not gravity fed (DOT regs and less prone to leak), mounted tank lower then the unit. Fill the generator's tank before starting and it will prime and pull from the extended run tank till dry.
