Does any one know of a security system that they can monitor from smart phone or computer why they are OTR?

If you're computer savvy, just set up a bunch of Webcams and connect them to the net. If not, and you also want things like text or video alerts for motion detected or lights being turned off, the WiLife system works very well. I think it's by Logitech.

There's an app, too, that will alert you via smartphone when a cam is activated. I have family who were selling their house and set up their webcam to record, and they'd get notified when someone went into that room and could then watch and hear them live. If you're interested and can't find it on your own, let me know and I'll find out what it was.

Not sure if these ppl are in your area or not and how deep your pocket book is..I do know a few that use them in my area and they seem happy with their systems..A monthly fee maybe involved if you want them to monitor it..Not sure how it works but it maybe a starting point..
Best-Buy also has a few system that appear to be easy to set up??? quality of picture would be my first concern and I don't know how well web cams will broadcast a good picture???
Seen so many security camera pictures that look grainy and a bad image,,If I was investing in this I would go high end if possible..And cover the entire building both inside and out and from all angles.
Ford Motor Company has one of the best quailty cameras I have ever seen..No idea what they are using. Both day and night images are great.

My home cable/internet/phone provider offers this: Home Security Systems, Alarm Systems, Home Protection | XFINITY® Home from Comcast I don't subscribe to this service but I do get bombarded with their ads every time I log into my e-mail account. I would image other large cable type companies offer a similar service.

Just looked them up. They boast a 20% savings over ADT, meaning they're still expensive as hell. If you install your own system, you can get a monitoring company to keep tabs on your system for as little as $8/mo, for bare bones. Things like communication by cable or cell should only boost that by $7-15 max. A little research in this field can save good money.

Whatever you do, don't go with ADT... at least until you research them. They gouge the hell out of their customers.
