I'm home for my daughter's wedding but when I go back out I'll add talking on amateur radio to my list. My license has arrived so I can now do more than just listen.

I enjoy watching movies, reading, and the internet while on the road. We like to stop and sightsee whenever we have time and a place to park.

My husband has a PS2 to pass the time while I'm on the internet and he also takes along his RC car to play with when time permits. Im not sure about carrying that fuel in a CMV so he only takes along small quantities.

He has started making many of his own parts out of aluminum to replace the plastic ones he breaks on the car. He enjoys making parts and working on the thing as much or more than running it.

He gets scrap aluminum from many of the customers we visit, he offers to pay and they give it to him. He carries a lot of tools on the truck and recently purchased a Dremel tool and various attachments to use in his parts making.

I told him soon we wont be able to carry freight due to his "mobile machine shop".:7

I had a few hobbies on the road: reading, playing a little electronic chess game (it usually won), watching TV, complaining about my carrier, visiting museums and a few other past times.

Towards the end of my time in expediting, I re-discovered a childhood passion through the Internet - racing slot cars, specifically HO slot cars.

Using the web, I found commercial slot car tracks in a few different states that I traveled frequently and began to visit them when on a layover or even just passing through their city. HO was the right size - all I had to carry was my "pit box" (small tackle box).

When my pager would go off, it made it easier to turn down anunprofitable run if I was in the middle of running my little cars around the track, or at least that was my excuse.

I had some fun, met some cool "slotheads" and raced on some interesting tracks.

I carry a creeper with me in my box (which can double as a lightweight dolly if necessary) and I wouldn't call it a hobby, but if you have an hour here and there you can roll around under the truck and inspect things, check for loose parts, clean off lubrication points, add a little grease, sand off rust here and there and do some touch up painting. I carry a box of latex gloves with me, so I can keep reasonably clean while I'm under the truck.

Haven't seen anyone else mention my favorite way to pass time: VIDEO GAMES! Especially the Sony PSP it's great, can make hours pass.

Hey Guys, Thats me---Pappy---sittin on my milk crate--leaning back on the front bumper--playin my 6 string or my 12 string. I'll sing for anybody, anywhere, anytime. Otherwise, I might be writing lyrics for a new song. My very first CD is to be released soon and my new website should be up and running before too long. I'll post web site as soon as its operational so anyone intrested can visit and listen to snippets. New CD title is "Blue Eyed Country" Should perhaps have been "The Flip Side Of Truck Driving"

Pappy: looking forward to your website! Because I have found music to be an excellent companion on the road - it can wake me up, calm me down, make me feel happy/sad/nostalgic/ALIVE! Now, if only I could sing.....:) :) :)

I like inline skating and riding my mountain bike when I can find places to do that. I recently found a website with a list of trails. http://www.traillink.com/
An inline skate site cause they are easier to carry around.

I also use the resistance bands, but be careful as one has attacked my eye once. I also use them when driving and are bored or getting tired as the excersize helps with blood flow and all that.
