Here's the link to the manufacturers home page: FanTastic Vent - Home Page

This gives more information and pictures. Adohen's had the best price when I bought mine. Very nice people to do business with.

I use my Fantastic Vent in conjunction with a pair of Breezeway #3 truck window screens I modified to fit my van.

You mean the "speed holes" in the roof were a bad idea? The guy who recommended it, moniker of Simpson, told me a car salesman told him about it.

The low setting of the fantastic vent draws 1 amp.

I have a second fanless fantastic vent at the rear. I push air out with the fan and the passive vent is the intake. I cut electrostatic air conditioner filter material and HEPA filter material to fit the passive vent. I always keep the windows closed, even in Laredo.

Next vehicle I will probably opt for the collapsible MaxxAir vent. It's supposed to be more weather friendly.

1 amp can't be much, right? I mean, how long can you run it without worrying about a single battery?

Depends on how good the battery is. If you get a VoltMeter [$30.00, online], you can keep an eye on it, and see what draws how much power. And crank up the van before the batteries down too low, lol.
I have both - I love the Fantastic Fan, and it draws extremely little power.
Just make sure to close it [if it's not the Rainsense version] before you drive off - those sudden unexpected downpours are a bite when you have the fan open.

I think one amp is very respectable considering how much air it moves.

A way to picture it--say your battery has 150 amp-hour of usable power. The one amp fan is going to run 150 hours before needing to recharge. Since I'm charging off my solar panels, the sun comes up long before I deplete my auxiliary battery. If that one battery is also your starter battery and is only charged by the alternator, I still consider that low draw russian roulette.

Isn't there's a way to monitor the battery juice ,so it will automatically start the van when the battery goe's down,
just like the APU's ?

The VoltMeter won't start the van, but it has an alarm you program at a setpoint to alert you to crank the ignition.
The autostart systems I've seen are on trucks - don't know if there are any for a van, but you could combine a VoltMeter with a remote starter, and stay in bed. :D

I have had my Fantastic Vent for 7 years. It has over ½ million miles on it. When I buy a new van I will pull the Fantastic Vent and install it in the new van. Still runs smooth and quiet.
