About a month from now you will go to the polls.
There are a few things that you need to understand what is happening and how it could affect you. Electing a person to an office because of a party or because they stand for the war I think is a wrong reason to vote.
Believe it or not the war is not as important as a couple of other issues. I know that if the Democrats get a majority of anything – they will expand on two primary issues.
What may these be?
Eminent domain
And
Censorship
The first thing is something that many have forgotten about and should be dealt with at the congressional level, not let the state decide about how it could be corrected. This entire issue was brought about because of Kelo v. New London (Pfizer) that went to the Supreme Court and decided on that indeed we can have our property taken away without much recourse to let some idiot developer build condos and make millions. The case at hand is an interesting one, New London gave Pfizer permission to choose the people who would sit on the eminent domain board (these people are the ones who decide what property to take and how much to give).
I was in New London while this was going on and I know a lot more than what is publicized; the property was all deemed slums but got to tell you some of the houses were really nice and well kept up for their age. Some of the homes were in the same family since we were colonies.
What I find really troublesome is that congress should have jumped on this and corrected the courts decision, they can you know. The court does not have the final word and many of the unconstitutional laws that they and lower courts ruled on could be overridden by a majority vote – it is called checks and balances people!
Amazing that no one seems to care about this but think about this, you vote counts more on the federal level than on a local level. On the local level you vote, your person should have the biggest impact of all. This has given councils and boards more rights to ruin you life and take your property.
The second thing is censorship. I believe that the Democrats will put in more judges who will legislate from the bench, aka activist judges. I see a real danger here, A judge in Seattle has decided that two talk show hosts must limit their political speech. Here is a link to the article I read - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15078348/site/newsweek/
This is scary and you, as a citizen, need to think about it. What we write here could be considered political speech and limited by a judge. Imagine the impact that this would have to any group of people or individuals.
There are a lot of other issues but truthfully, our country was founded on these two very important principles, property rights and freedom of speech and expression – we need to fight having them taken away.
