I think we are thinking the same but 2 different pictures...;)

I see these companies doing what they have to do to STAY in business and NOT go under....

And live to fight another day...

BTW..I also don't think things are peachy..b ut I also have more faith in the USA then you seem to...come Sept or Oct you are trying to persuade people they'll wake up and the USA will be sold to China with troops in the streets...

we are already sold to the chinese, they own us now.....as for a date, i said in the other thread no one knows the date, but we are on a road thanks to barry and timmy that is destorying out dollar and our economy....when the economic system collapses then we will see the people do what they have to do to take back what most people willingly let slip through their fingers.....but any salvaging of the government that our founders gave us will wait until that happens....the biggest hope for this country is in those last articles you posted Ken (and i haven't read a single one of them yet...but i know for the most part, some politicians are starting to see just what barry is doing...and some are actually starting to stand up and fight back.....thats all well and good, but is there enough to stop him? I guess we have to wait it out and see...

i don't want troops in the streets anymore then you do...i am just willing to let go in that direction if that is wat it takes...and if barry continues without being stopped, that is where we will find ourselves...people don't want to hear that, but the fact is the # of people that are becoming willing to fight to take back our country is growing each day...and you what...part of me thinks barry is setting that up too as i asked you, greg and layout and anyone else, what will barrys "Reichstag Moment" be...if you are familar with thatterm, google "Reichstag Fire"...then look at the how the 2 came to power and what they did and are doing with that power, the simularities are frightening.......

So yea i see the collapse of our ecomony, i see fighting in our streets i can only hope and pray i am wrong.....

His Reichstag Moment?

It is a three part thing, converging all at once.

1 - increasing involvement in Afghanistan due to the failure of his policies there

2 - the continuing crisis with our economy

3 - another terrorist attack.

#1 he has setup already and you will see an increase in deaths of our service people over there in the next few months. He hasn't the strength to pull off an Iraq like Bush did but he has the nerve to use the situation to strengthen his position within military community and their supporters by moving from a semi-Hawk to a full Hawk.

#2 - he knows the path to power is crisis, so he will take advantage of more problems by demanding more power. He has already been telling the American Taxpayer that we are seeing signs of a recovery through the payback of loans made to banks and other financial institutions but in fact he has left out the little detail that even though the "taxpayer" made money on the deal, the money is being dumped back into some slush fund instead of paying back the loans they made to pay for all of it. AND he is lying by the simple fact that no taxpayer can make a dime on the money either through the government or through some other means. Taxpayers are Payers.

#3 - this is self-explanatory.

I am NOT saying that we WILL see troops on our streets soon. BUT, if we do, they will be wearing "Blue Helmets". I think that Barry knows that a large percentage of the military, one: does not like OR trust him, and two: will NOT fight for him AGAINST their own country men. In fact, and Barry most likely knows this too, they will fight WITH those who stand up to Barry. I pray this can all be avoided. It can if Barry would just move to Cuba where he belongs.

HMMM.. CAT's stock went up, pre-market the day before they release their earnings report...i think that is called "speculation"....well their earnings are out, and it appears CAT is dying on the vine...i am sure they will recover in the years to come, as they downsize and cut people and production...and move overseas when barrys tax increases hit them....as for nw, it ain't pretty...

Caterpillar Earnings Are Horrifying (CAT)

Let's just get it out of the way upfront: We don't follow trading in Caterpillar (CAT) stock all that closely, so we don't know what investors were really expecting, or why shares are up 10% pre-market. We're more like a visitor, inspecting the latest report from the politician-friendly company, and dismayed at how bad things seem to be.

The Peoria, IL-based maker of giant earth moving machines just reported Q2 revenue that fell 41%(!) from the year before. Earnings were down even more steeply, and they would've been down even more than they were had it not been for canning a whole bunch of workers -- this despite hints from its CEO that the stimulus would help it keep jobs (perhaps many of Caterpillar's workers fall into the "jobs saved" bucket that top econ advisors like Christina Romer would love to be able to count accurately).

The company was helped in the quarter -- again, a quarter in which sales were down 41% -- by the Chinese stimulus. The home front is even more of a horror show, as North American sales were down 51%, though obviously that has a lot to do with the lack of homes being built, which is a good thing.
General infrastructure was down 15%, though highway spending was flat, due to what it said was a late-quarter pickup in activity -- but how depressing is it that the only thing we know how to do is build highways now? Meanwhile, sagging demand for energy and collapsing oil prices killed their Canadian oil sands business. Again, a real nightmare all around.

I don't recall ever saying it was an indictator of the economy...It is an indicator how these companies are handling the downsizing and staying in business...

BTW..American Axle in 3 rivers Mi is hiring at the moment...new hires..was there to-day...

Call you senators and reps and make it CLEAR that IF they vote FOR this boondogle that you WILL be voting AGAINST them the next time they come up for re-election.

It takes more than just voting against them. In an age when people vote based on recognizing names if you want to get someone defeated you have to help get that other person's name out there.

That reminds me of one of my first jobs working at a service station. My boss came into some money and he said I had been doing such a wonderful job that he wanted to give me a raise. Of course being 16 I was proud I was getting my first raise. I told my mom, dad, grandparents, uncles, and everyone else that would listen that I was getting a raise because the boss said I was such a good worker and he finally had money to give me a decent raise. At last working 6 days a week was paying off. I lived in a town where alot of the kids didn't know what work was until they left college, and I still don't know how much they know about it. So the rest of the week I was especially happy to be at work instead of just hanging out like most of my friends. Alright, long story short. I get my pay check and it was something like 25 to 30 bucks less than what it was the week before I got the raise. That was quite a bit to me considering I was still in school and working just enough hours each day to keep me from making plans. 25 bucks was gas money for the week in my old Chevy C-10 pick up and get it and me all cleaned up for the friday/saturday night cruising so I could look cool for my girlfriend. I still wasn't making enough money to actually pay taxes just have them held out so I got a nice big check in late April to early May. Taxes are crazy like that.

You are right Ark. Our present socialist tax structure is DESIGNED to keep people in their place. A progressive tax such as we have is one of the lefts BIGGEST coups. SOOO many fall for the TAX THE RICH stupidity. They are NOT taxing the rich. It only punishes those who work hard and rewards laziness. Want to tax the rich? How about a tax on rich polititions, like Kennedy or Kerry? Income tax hikes for the most part have NO affect on them.
