Everyone knows Amy Winehouse died! Who is Justin Allen 23, Brett Linley 29, Matthew Weikert 29, Justus Bartett 27, Dave Santos 21, Jesse Reed 26, Matthew Johnson 21, Zachary Fisher 24, Brandon King 23, Christopher Goeke 23, and Sheldon Tate 27? They are Marines that gave their lives this week for you. There is no media for them... not even a mention of their names.

They gave their lives for me? Really? Sorry... but I stopped believing in Santa Claus years ago. I'm sorry that they died, but they didn't give their lives for me. That's just government propaganda, to help me to be "patriotic". A true patriot fights for his country, not for his government. Our country's fight should have been over long ago. They fight now, only for the warmongers' pleasures.

Tolstoy said it best: “The time is fast approaching when to call a man a patriot will be the deepest insult you can offer him. Patriotism now means advocating plunder in the interest of the privileged classes of the particular State system into which we have happened to be born.

Mama, don't let your babies grow up to be soldiers.

In his heart, yes... he is fighting and dying for his country. For that, I am honored that he would think that way. But honestly, he is naive to think that the cause he is fighting for is noble. If he really knew who turned the gears of war, I think he'd be on the next plane home.

Every war we've been in, in the last century, has been unjustly entered, other than WW2 and Korea, IMO. I only say Korea because I believe the Cold War was a justified war; and we had to draw the line in the sand. However, the warmongers loved those two wars as well.

Every time a famous person dies and makes headlines, there will soon to be an e-mail or Web posting somewhere that whines about the famous person that lots and lots of people know getting headlines, and the people in the armed forces (usually Marines) who died this week not getting any headlines despite the fact that they aren't famous. Ironically, these postings and e-mail usually only mentions names and ages, but fail to do the very thing they whine about, tell us anything about them other than the fact that they died. They whine about no media coverage (despite it not being news outside of a hometown somewhere) and then they create their own media to cover it, and then don't.

Here's the thing....

The above is strikingly similar to a nearly identical piece written last year. Most of the names are the same:

Lindsay Lohan, 24, is all over the news because she's a celebrity drug addict. While Justin Allen, 23, Brett Linley, 29, Matthew Weikert, 29, Justus Bartett, 27, Dave Santos, 21, Chase Stanley, 21, Jesse Reed, 26, Matthew Johnson, 21, Zachary Fisher, 24, Brandon King, 23, Christopher Goeke, 23, and Sheldon Tate, 27 are all Marines that gave their lives this week, no media mention. Honor THEM by reposting.
All 12 listed above were killed serving in Afghanistan between July 10 and 16, 2010, not this week, all were Americans except Brett Linley, of Birmingham UK, who served in the 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment,The Royal Logistic Corps. Nine of the 12 served in the US Army, not the Marines. Extensive searching has yet to find any record of Justus Bartett, but an obituary for 27 year old Marine Staff Sgt. Justus S. Bartelt , of Polo, Ill, so that was probably a typo.

I ran across another nearly identical copy back in January, except that one stated the men were all with Third Battalion 5th Marines currently serving in Afghanistan, that all nine died this week (despite listing twelve names), and they were all Navajo, which was very believable because, you know, names like Weikert, Santos, Johnson, Fisher, and Christopher Goeke are all really Navajo-sounding names.

There are Web sites that list these men, who they were and how they died. But apparently those details do not matter, as long as the sentiment is good. After all, it's the feel-good intentions which are important, which is quite pathetic when you realize "good intentions" is bread and butter of the liberal left. The only difference is the "patriots" who put this crap out there have the added element of trying to make you feel guilty for something or another.

No, these Marines did not give their lives for me this week, most of 'em even aren't Marines, and I won't feel guilty because I know who Lindsay Lohan or Any Winehouse or Paris Hilton or anyone else who is famous is, and I don't know some dead soldier who I never met and wasn't famous.

Turtle... are you at home? Cause if you're on the road, I'd think seriously about changing carriers, if I were you. You have way too much time on your hands. ;)

Kind of off-topic isn't it? It's also a personal message that belongs in a PM rather than in public, and it's baffling why you would do so.

In any case, if I wanted my location made public, I'd state it in the Locations thread or elsewhere. I ran two loads yesterday and one today, not that that's any of your business, nor is what I do with my free time while waiting to get loaded, unloaded or between load offers.

Now, arentcha glad you posted what should have been a PM, off-topic in a public forum? ;)

a. I am an American fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
b. All men and women in the armed forces have the duty at all times and under all circumstances to oppose the enemies of the United States and support its national interests. In training or in combat, alone or with others, while evading capture or enduring captivity, this duty belongs to each American defending our nation regardless of circumstances.

I say "Thank You" to these brave young men and women.

Amy Winehouse - another mentally disturbed, moderately talented, 20-something entertainer/drunk/junkie is found dead in her hotel room/apartment/mansion/street gutter, whatever; just as all the other self-destructive entertainers before her died in pursuit of their own self indulgence. Yawn, scratch - so what else is in the news? Just as before, the world kept turning as it did when King Elvis died on his porcelain throne.

On the same day and every day since then, somewhere a decent 20-something year old soldier or policeman, perhaps married with a small kid or two died for a cause larger than himself at the hands of some cowardly terrorist or sleazy drug dealer. These have become regular occurrences that are hardly noticed and are taken for granted. For those of you who think the deaths of these people are insignificant, I suggest you go on YouTube and watch the videos of 911 again and remember that nothing like it has happened on our soil for 9 years and 11 months.

Insignificant? No. A waste of a good human being? Yes! Should it have been a bureaucrat or warmonger who died instead? HELL YEAH!!!

Why should I go back and watch a video of 3000 people dying? The mission is being dragged on because companies are still getting rich from selling bombs. That's all! Our guys aren't preventing us from getting killed by foreigners, or they'd be on our border preventing Zetas from kidnapping/killing/drug running/raping.

all us males have problems with egos and our defensive mode kicks in,imho.
True, but that's not the case here. This has to do with whining and hypocrisy, both in public and in PMs.

I'd elaborate here in public, but then I'd just be another whining hypocrite. :D
