i have been trying to find a fleet owner...but can't find one that wants a solo driver...what can i do...please help me.and i am panther qualified

good luck.its just so difficult for a fleet owner to make enough revenue with a solo driver.your best bet is to purchase your own truck,thats the only way being solo that its profitablei have been trying to find a fleet owner...but can't find one that wants a solo driver...what can i do...please help me.and i am panther qualified

Have you checked with anyone besides Panther? Smaller carriers typically have less rules about solos than the big carriers. Check with Bolt and C&M. I've heard good things about both with solos. Since you're in the south, also check with DTH Expediters in Atlanta. They may have an owner.

C&M is only taking on teams, last I heard. Polly, Transtewart, and RJR are three companies that are solo friendly.

Hey, Nightcreacher, if it's difficult for a fleet owner to generate enough revenue with a solo, how buying your own truck would it make it any more profitable?

I own three trucks and am currently driving one as a solo. As the owner I can make it, taking care of expenses and a little profit left over - but you need to be lucky, make the right decisions, and cut back on expenses. I am puting a H&W team in the truck as soon as possible because that is the only way to maximize the potential of the truck. A truck with a solo needs to split the income 3 ways: 1/3 to the driver, 1/3 to the owner, and 1/3 to fuel cost - and the truck incme is only half or less what a team can normally bring in. If you have the resources to buy a used truck and backup funds to allow you to get started, that's the really only way for a solo in this business. If you don't have the funds - don't do it.
