so i drive for someone with a 60-40 split cargo van. It's not enough $$. Does anyone know of anywhere I can lease to own or get a vehicle financed despite my bad credit? Otherwise I'm going to be in the slave-like environment for a long time ......any advice would help thanks. I'm a nice young hard working guy here, just made a few mistakes when i was younger--and now my credit history is bad..... no i don't want 65 or 70 percent..... i need help getting my own van.

If you enjoy the expediting thing maybe you should get a real job with a steady income for awhile. Get your credit problems straighten out and save for a down payment with some reserves.

If you have no reserves you really don't want to be an owner op. The past six weeks I bought new tires, 900.00, a new windshield 200.00, brake pads and rotors all around, 600.00, transmission fluid change 200.00, fuel filter 120.00 an oil change done myself 110.00, new cat convertor and 2 nox sensors 2400.00, flex pipe 300.00, new alternator and install 300.00, and just because I wanted to be a little broker a new generator 1200.

Still had to buy fuel, food and make the van payment.

Sometimes it pays to just drive and let someone else take care of things.

Oakst2010: I would trade with u if I could? It might b good for me that I don't have a family to support. I am trying to get started on a new career myself at the age of 62. Tired of staying at home all the time, I'm also in the hunt to get my own sprinter and it sounds like we're in the same boat. I hope u luck. Duwayne

What is it with broke desperate people that makes them so attracted to o/o thing? Successful people know how to manage money. They know the difference between needs and wants. More often than not most of the things we want are not needs but show me someone in dire financial straits and I'll show you someone who doesn't get that. OP you've been given good advice. Get your finances under control and in order then maybe give the o/o thing a shot. Successful o/o never whine about what a mess their finances are. Failures and soon to be failures do. Ask anyone who has failed and guaranteed it was always a money management issue. Cleaning up your mess is a process that will probably take you a few short years of sacrifice. Dave Ramsey used to have a saying that made me chuckle - it only took me a few years to become an overnight success.

We all know that Bad things happen to good people..... ..But like many have stated DO NOT attempt short cuts ... it will jump up and Bite you in the back side ... Work to get your finances in order and then maybe try Expediting . Don't attempt a Quick fix...
And please don't Beg us to Buy a Van and give it to You on Payments .... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN ... sorry but its the truth

I don't see how you can't save up some good money while driving someone else's cargo van. I had a friend who saved 10 grand in 6 months and paid off one of his credit card. You need to be making at least 60 percent of a dollar a mile, or 60 cents per mile with your 60 percent and fuel surcharge added to that. You should be able to net 30 cents per mile after fuel. At 8000 miles a month, that is 2400 dollars. How much money do you need for cell phone, food, etc?

DO NOT ATTEMPT this business if you are broke....your 60/40 deal is the best you'll get.. the way business is now without the responsibilty (see Xiggi's post ).....this business is in the tanks right now with no light in the tunnel....Best of luck...

If I was going to look at becoming a owner, I'd wait till 2017 maybe April right now to do the jump election year is coming up and expiditer freight seem to drop off during those times. Best thing to do I wait it out save a few bucks back learn as much as you can about this business.

I wouldn't do it in a van or sprinter right now as there are so many. Since going off on our own I have seen the sprinter rates. When you have people bidding .60 to .70 per mile with fuel, it just don't make any sense. We have one Sprinter and the guy isn't getting rich, but we keep him moving the best we can.

You can get a decent van from Buy Here Pay Here ..no Credit Checks. Where there is a Will theres a Way.

Did you notice this guy has 1 post...he hasn't even been here to play nice and then expects someone to "sponsor" him etc?

Maybe one of the rich expiditers can sponsor him

But they would want a return on their investment. Not going to happen in this case. He is better to keep it on the porch until he is ready.

He's desperate. A lot of vanners are, or have been, that way. Maybe even most started out that way.

This is some of the founders and best advise that I've ever read. I hope that guy listens to it
