HELP!! Jack Berry's Van

I am putting this here for MAX Exposure..if there is a need to, go ahead and remove it as it is also posted the Layover forum:


Ok, with the help of Express 1 and EO we are working on getting Jack & Gracies Ford HCV van to the Expo...As most are aware Jack has been diagnosed ALS and their van is listed for sale in th EO classifeds ( http://www.expeditersonline.com/clas...e-350-HCV.html )

and this is a payment that they needed to get rid of...

So with the help of Express 1 getting the van down here and Lawrence placing the van in a good high traffic area for it to be seen...we now are in need of volunteers to hang out at the van...No one will be asked to SELL the van...we want it open so that people that might be interested can see that the unit is a "turnkey ready to work van...and to do that we need someone there...no one expects anyONE to be there continuously, so we need more then 1 or 2 people to pull this off...again you will not be asked to try and sell the van...there will be a printed flyer for interested parties to take..all the contact info will be on there and anyone interested can contact Jack & Gracie direct....

So if you feel the need to help out here, please PM me and we will work this out.

I can assure you that your help will be greatly appreciated by the Berrys and all of the EO Community...

Oh one more thing, If anyone as the "Talent"...if we could get a nice display board made maybe with a info on WHY this is being done..something along the lines of "Helpin One Of Our Own"...please send me a PM...Id appreciate it..

Is it going to have a spot indoors where the most people will check it out? If not, is there any way we can rearrange and make room for it?

The decision on the location will be in Lawrences hands..Him knowing the importance of these efforts, I am sure he will the best to make sure it gets the Max exposurer....:)

Better be careful with that offer, you might not like where he tells you to go.

I wanted to ask this in the open since others may have the same question. I was wondering if you had an idea on how long you needed people there for each shift, I am hoping to be there for both days but my wife and I may not make it until Saturday so we would need to balance our time with the expo as well. My wife will volunteer to make the board that you wanted as well if you still need someone.

Tme will be whatever one can give us...we are also lookin at a few other ideas based on the # of people that step up to help...

Just an idea, you might want to draw up a blank schedule and break it into 2 hr timeblocks and let people volunteer for a timeslot. If someone can only do 1 hr, then they can specify that when volunteering.

But for scheduling purposes, this might be easiest to coordinate publicly. People could volunteer in this thread and copy & paste the schedule with thei addition.

I got to tell you that IF I was going, I would have just helped for the two days and not worried about who's doing what.

I may be a bit different in my thinking but helping out others may be better than walking around and talking to people.

Sorry Jack I won't be there to help.

I'll be there both days and as Cherie says just let me know when and where. Cheryl Drury (EO name Weady2Wun). Will there be some kind of fund raiser to help out with their medical expenses?

The 2 hr blocks is how the volunteers who helped with registration the first year at the Roberts Center were scheduled. It worked pretty well, except for the ones who honestly didn't realize how quickly time goes by when you're having fun, and forgot to check the time.
I've missed seminars and giveaways for that reason, so just be aware that there's a time anomaly at the Expo: it goes much faster than you expect, lol. :D

1st thanks to those that have offered their help, and we will figure how we will handle this out asap...but we haven't had a big enough responce to cover the time for anywhere near the 2 days...

So it looks like we will try another angle. I will PM each of you that offered your help the 1st of the week..

I think you will find once at the Expo there will be many people who will be able to help with this project. From experience the front line outside has a lot of traffic and where ever the jars are the sign needs to have a paragraph added about Jack's van being for sale.

I wish we could help and if possible we will be there we are tied up with workshops. The van will need to be moved over closer to the BBQ on Saturday as well.

I believe Greg is wrong on not taking the time to attend the show and talk to others. The networking that goes on inside and outside the show to me is very important to our business. We have never left the Expo without learning something that helps us on the road.

Great job you guys at getting this organized!

Dennis......please put me down for all the time not covered from open to close both days. I will be there both days and I think perhaps Load 1 can spare me for an event of this nature. I remember Jack from my days at Express 1. I am sure if our JE hears of this there will be a Load 1 presence that will rival the imagination! Thanks for bringing this to my attention......Don Barker, Sr.
