Hi Littlebit,

I know very little of this company except that they are a "Great Lakes Carrier" and for the PC (politically correct) - they are the only minority owned expedited carrier out there.

This is only second hand information, but I was told they have quite a few company trucks and you know as well as I do which ones will be loaded on the slow days.. Radio Transfer here in Grand rapids is same story.

I started out with Radio Transfer in a van, bought a 24' and did fairly well with my own Authority, and then moved on to ROBERTS.(Did exceptional till Fedex CC. Most of the trouble was finding a good team to run. Left Fedex CC in January tried a few local places but again, too many lies are told.( Thought I learned them all)
Lost the big truck in May, back to the basics with a van, and I just need a average place to lease. Is there somewhere good for vans that does not have too many COMPANY OWNED????????:-( :) :-( :)

RE:

"First Class" from where?? If it's the con-artist in muskegon, I think I'll pass. Did a double loaded run for him, two seperate shippers, and two seperate delivery address. Had to bring one back because delivery time was for after they were closed. To make my experince with him even better, I only got paid for ONE of these loads. GOT ANY OTHER ADVISE????? A good place to look???

To Lawrence;
There is another carrier with minority owners and that is Metroliner Courier out of Gastonia, NC, they are not a large Company and all drivers are employees, they run B, C, and D units only coverage area is mainly southeast.

I probably should have a little more info on the specifics of this
double bubble try. But here goes my thoughts. First. Doubles are
(in the expedite business) very difficult to make work, and, as such
few and far between. I can't believe you brought one back!!!!!! Just
because the place was closed. I'm sure they would have opened up the next business day, and, someone wanted that freight. Or, it wouldn't
have been on your truck. Again, I probably should have more info
concerning this episode, but, to take freight back for the above reason without the consignee refusing it, is really, really sorry.
And, you expected pay for it??? WOW!!!!!! No wonder you can't find a good company.

RE:

Smarty pants!!! Maybe you need a little more info. First of all, it wasn't exactly a "rush" load. Picked up load "A" in muskegon heights at 9 am, then, when ready to be on my way, I was the asked to go to a company in Holland to pick up a machine press. At the SECOND pickup I was unloaded and reloaded to accomadate load "B"
Left SECOND shipper at 10:15 am. Load A - 235 miles Load B - additional 150 miles south into Ohio. I was given a delivery time for
Load B of 2pm YOU FIGURE IT OUT!!! Its not like fedex with a verified delivery time. This Brilliant Guy did not even check with the company to see about their hours. And poor old me just finding out that my total pay for both would be $290 (1.25mi)
DO YOU THINK AT THIS POINT I ( even if he asked, which he did not)
WOULD WASTE ANY MORE OF MY TIME. Let me just bend over. NOT!!!!!!!
Still think the same?????? If you do, I wish the same to ya....:) }>

RE:

I just left HELP in July 2002. I started with them in November, 2001. Good company. Good dispatchers. They have the Michigan contract for GM so the runs are mostly GM freight. Lots of local (Detroit metro area) runs. Not too many out of state runs. I left because half of my day was spent waiting at GM docks to get loaded. Average weekly gross was $1500.

Unfortunately I went to First Class. Big mistake. Small company. No Qualcomm. All info is done via cell phone. Ford is their big customer.

RE: LOL.. doug you messed up

I am with First Class now.. They have Qualcomm, GMPT , Ford PT, NLM & FedEx boards, American Axle, Johnson Controls, etc, etc, etc.... ( alot more to mention, but you get the idea)

Too bad you did not stick around for a month or 2, you would be rolling in the dough like the rest of us.

One of the good things about First class is.. They WILL NOT over recruit.

You can sign on with anyone, but will they have the work?

First class has both, especially when they only hire what they need.

Maybe you can get back with First Class, we are rocking now.. Sign on and give me a break, I am running out of hours before they run out of freight.

Safe driving to you and good luck
