Prepare for the unexpected .... Need 2 new tires ... At Discount Tire now! In Baytown Tx darn state tax is high!!
I passed that Discount Tire in Baytown yesterday.

If you think TX tax is high don't shop in AL or TN. At least TN doesn't have state income tax.

Because your in the Houston area. The sales tax is 1% more in Houston, San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth. Should be 8.25% at least that is what it was when I lived there 16 yrs ago.

TX doesn't have a state income tax neither.

but it does have a sales tax....like 7.75 % not including any special county or city taxes...
http://www.taxrates.com/state-rates/tennessee/

The Tennessee (TN) state sales tax rate is currently 7.0%. Depending on local municipalities, the total tax rate can be as high as 9.75%.
Other, local-level tax rates in the state of Tennessee are quite complex compared against local-level tax rates in other states. Tennessee sales tax may also be levied at the city/county/school/transportation and SPD (special purpose district) levels.
Amazon.com owns and operates several fulfillment centers in Tennessee. This physical presence, or nexus, creates a sales tax obligation for Amazon and many sellers participating in Amazon’s Seller Central and Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) programs.
Tennessee sales tax is one of the most challenging states to monitor and maintain due to the complex levels of local and special purpose taxes. Maintaining accuracy for this state is demanding and time consuming.
Taxable goods delivered to buyers in Tennessee are subject to sales and use tax. Some services are also subject to sales tax. Online and catalog sales are subject to Tennessee use tax. As a Streamlined Sales Tax state, Tennessee encourages out-of-state sellers without a sales tax obligation to register with the state and collect.

Refer to post 209. I know the sales tax is high in Tx. I lived there for 15 yrs. in the big cities the sales tax is 1% higher than the rest of the state. I know Tn doesn't have a state income tax like Fl and probably a few others. I was just saying that Tx doesn't have a state income tax.

Neither does my state of SD....state sales tax is at 6% but my county tax is 2% tacked unto that.....they gotta get the operating money from somewhere....

Alaska, Oregon, Montana, New Hampshire and Delaware all have no sales tax. I've bought tires twice in Delaware for that very reason.

am outside the city limits I think...Baytown
i think your probably right. I know when I lived there the city of Houston had a problem of growing the city tax base by annexing surrounding cities with city services just for more tax money but I don't think Baytown is in that. Maybe Leo will chime in on that.
