Agree with Luke. I'm opposed to mandatory Elogs, [except for drivers/carriers with a history of violations], and don't think they should be required until something is done to decrease detention and increase parking for trucks.

I'm not speaking for John or the company BUT ever more increasing rules and enforcement by the feds isn't giving carriers much choice... then add in the fact that insurance companies tend to pile on anytime the feds design implement new rules and there is just too much pressure for carriers to resist long.

Seriously, I am sure Load-1 isn't going to make driver's lives more difficult without very good reason... they just aren't going to air company laundry to the world... nor should they.

Trust in that.

Just out of curiosity, what does detention and lack of parking have to do with accurately filling out your logs?

Nothing, but either or both can cause noncompliance. The problems have been known for years, nothing has been done to address either, they've only gotten worse, and now, FMCSA is all about 'compliance'. As if compliance = safety. The sole violation I sometimes commit is forgetting to sign the log, which makes me noncompliant, but has zero to do with safety.
I think it's unfair to keep piling more regs onto drivers' backs, without doing the first thing to address the problems we have in being compliant.
And I think it's unreasonable to force elogs on drivers with no history of noncompliance or safety problems, as well.

Because that is the way it is going to be...period! .....you should be on Elogs if you are not already....you admitted your problem....

The really real reason is you won't be able to do the subtle cheats anymore.....:p

The 14 is a real pistol to get by with elogs. Not only was the rant a few days ago due to that, but the run I turned down Saturday, due to me not being convinced of there being enough time to finish it straight thru, not to mention a break being involved in there somewhere. It's not the same as paper, for sure. With teams it's easy. With solos it's a cold-hearted "you know what." Having said that, I still like it.

Regulation on everything is coming. The real problem is with how they are regulating. The biggest issue is the inability to stop the 14 hour clock. It affects paper logging and e-log drivers who want to run legal. Get held up and cant finish a run and it creates an issue for the carrier to post pone the delivery or swap it or pull it off the driver. If this one issue could be corrected it would relieve much of the issues that are being complained about. E-logs are not the problem, the rule is the problem.

You all driving the vans / sprinters would be yelling also if these rules were imposed on you. You are not any safer running a long trip or driving / working over 14 hours in a day than any driver who logs. Same way any motorist that works/ drives more than 14 hours a day is. So the rule says. You dont have a dog in the fight till you have to log. When they regulate you and the situation arises and causes you to lose some revenue you will be yelling also. As i said though, its not having to log or be on e-logs, its the rules of logging that are the real issue.

This is gonna seem really weird, but I agree completely with OVM.

The rules try to reign in the worst drivers and hurt everyone in the process, especially the best drivers! The offenders should be the only ones regulated so tightly but I doubt there is a practical way to do it. I was just sayin' that...
