What do you guys do for major medical insurance when you have pre-existing conditions. My h and I are on cobra from his previous employer and can't find coverage for a reasonable price.

blue cross helped us. It wasn't cheap but they didn't say a word about my wife's issues.

I have BCBS as well. I have a knee that is, um, very pre-existing. It is pricey, but if you ever find yourself in an emergency room 1500 miles from home that's the card you want to have.

I am Insulin Depended Diebetic and was on BCBS Cobra, I stayed with them om Individual plan !!
Payments are a little higher but had no problem with them !!
Tried several Companies with not much assistance !!
Be very carefull of those internet cheap Insurance deals..
I tried that, recieved about 30 calls a day on my phone and was harrassed by them...All they are discount Insurances..
I think OOIDA has something but do not think that it is a Major Health Plan ??
If you can get in with BCBS, do it !!

We have the HIGH deductible insurance from State Farm coupled with a HSA. When we went this way our first goal was to get enough money into the HSA to cover the deductibles and then let the mutual funds help it to grow. Another way we have handled this is instead of taking money out of the HSA to pay for minor items we pay cash for them and then deduct that from what we have chosen to send in to our HSA account. Even though we have enough in our account for our deductible we continue to contribute as this is deductible and also to have more in the account for a major catastrophe.

I'm no longer coverable. Not a case of higher premiums--just not coverable. I'm currently investigating an at-risk program through the state of Texas. Keep this thread going with ideas. I could use some ideas as well.

ebsprintin...
Not sure where you live but in the State of MA , they have mandatory Insurance programs for everyone !!
This includes people that are un-insurable !!!
This program started sometime this year !!
I am from there originally and when I was up there in October visiting family and getting my Flu Shot at Shaws Supermarket I was in line talking to some people about the program.
Just a thought...
