Thanks for the web site. Anyway now you can convince them to put all of the street signs in French and English like the rest of Canada?

If we are going to require immigrants to learn English to live and work in the U.S., would it not also be fair to require U.S. citizens to learn French to live and work in Quebec?

Excellant website, thank you for this info. As to the langauge issue: Americans require others to speak the accepted national language which is English. Canada is bi-lingual allowing others to speak either English or French (or both) nation wide. Qubec and Montreal have elected on their own to use French only, even though the law of the country is both. The Canadian government has bended over backwards for the French population at every turn; every piece of paper has to be produced in both languages at a waste of millions of tax-payers dollars a year, signs, speeches, all government actions is treated the same way. Yet, the French speaking population thumbs their nose at the government, taxpayers, - and visitors to their beautiful cities.

I find that many people don't want to think what the signs say or that they are in really easy to figure out.

The last time I was in Quebec, I actually enjoyed it a lot. I was there on business and I had a lot of time to kill between meetings. I stop into a store for some things my Mother-In-Law wanted (who is French-Canadian and speaks to me in her families language when she is mad at me which is a lot lately), I had two 'ladies' standing behind me in the check out line talk about that filthy American in front of them in French-Canadian (ok my shoes were not polished and they were muddy but I had on a $800 suit and $120 tie) and when I paid I turned and mentioned to them in English that it is rather sad that they were part of a great part of this great country and apologized for my shoes.

I haven't gone back since then but I want my wife to go there with me to show her what France is like because I know she will never goto France, England and Germany but not France.
