Head Cold

Does anyone know of a natural remedy for a head cold? I can't take the over the counter stuff because it make me hallucinate. We discovered this a little over 2 years ago when I took some o.t.c. cold medicine and saw an Iranian submarine in the river behind my home. After a brief stay in the Veterans Hospital we discovered it was the cold medicine. As a kid I always heard of people using whiskey for colds and what not. Problem is I can't partake of stiff drinks only the occasional beer. I have thought of turning my shower into a sauna and trying to sweat it out. Does this actually work? I know my Native American grandfather spoke of sweat lodges on the reservations he visited as a child. I just don't have the means or knowledge to build one.

If the cold is just starting, give Zicam a try, it does help. Chicken soup, mild salt water up your nose will help flush things out, lots of fluids. If you're congested, boil some water put in a bowl cover the bowl and your head with a towel an breathe the steam. Unfortunately a cold is a virus, so unless it develops into something else antibiotics don't help
