This weekend the cat made a mistake. They booked a load going from des plaines, IL to Naples, Fl. 1366 miles. At first, I was like I don't want to take it because its going to the worst place to get out of.....The bottom of Florida. So I said "what the heck, I'll take it for a weekend load since it delivered on sunday". So I get to the Georgia Line. Panther calls and said they made a mistake this load is suppose to go to Ohio. They paid me to turn around, extra mileage, and put me in a good area. Must be luck. The load turned out to be 1130 miles not bad for not having to deadhead 500 miles to get out of Florida. Has this ever happened to anyone?

Twice.

Once we arrived at a pickup for a nice run from IL to NJ. The shipper thought she had booked two stops, not one, and surprised us saying, "what about that freight?" when we secured what we thought was all the freight and got ready to leave. The second stop was in Florida and the run was adjusted to a two-stop run. I was thrilled. It was the middle of winter and could not have been happier to get to Florida.

Another time, we were sent to a pickup in NJ only to learn that the real pickup was from the same company but in MD. We were fairly compensated for all miles.

I picked up a load that ran around 300 miles, and was within 10 miles of the consignee when dispatch called: the freight wasn't needed, would I return it to the shipper, no rush necessary? When I stopped laughing, I said "Of course, but as tomorrow is Thursday, I'm taking it straight back, to be ready for the next load"
Like I always say: life is full of surprises, and some of them are good ones!

I once took 7 slot machines and 7 chairs from Reno to Olk.. Upon delivery, the mgr, said these chairs don't have our name on them, we don't want them. U guessed it, round trip:) :) :)

I picked up a large gear drive from a L.T.L. carrier in Minneapolis. The freight was going to an amusement park near Buffalo. I got to the west side of Chicago when I was called off. I took it back to the original shipper in Aberdeen, SD. Apparently they shipped the wrong piece.

A friend told me he picked up a load took it around 700 miles when he got there it was refused, called the dispatcher was told to take it back to shipper got there and the Feds closed the place down. The nieghbor said it was because of drugs, he could not deliver it but called dispatcher, Was told to dump it and leave. so He open his cargo doors unsrtap it and hit Reverse and then his brakes,

Just this weekend I got a load from San Antonio, TX to Austin, TX and back to San Antonio. Wrong flavors of popcorn at each location, so I was switching two pallets of different flavors of popcorn. Picked up my first 600 lbs of popcorn and on exiting the shipper--BEEP. Pulled into next driveway to receive the message--Dry Run. They say, "Hey at least you're getting dry run pay." Not sure yet what formula they're going to use for that paycheck.

Got a load in El Paso going to Farmington,MN got up there and couldn't find the place. Come to find out it was Farmington,NM where the load was going, but the miles that were first sent on the qc made a whole more sense for MN than NM. I was paid round trip.
