Hang-outs

We will be driving to Texas this coming week for a wedding and will be taking I-44 from the St. Louis area to Wichita Falls then west a couple hundred miles. Are there any dealerships along I-44 where we could start to do some looking at trucks and kick some tires? Are there any hang-outs where we might have a chance to run into some of ya'll and learn a thing or two?

I'd also like to know where any good dealers or places exist for expediting trucks...anywhere in the eastern half of the US. I've been researching expediting for about two years now (most of it on this site). I'm about ready to buy a truck. I've sent Freightliner of Knoxville 4 email requests for info so far...no response. I was there in person a few weeks ago and they were too busy to help myself and my wife. So, I'd like to know what other options are out there in addition to buying from private sellers. I've talked on the phone to some of the other dealers listed on this site, but at the moment, they don't have that much inventory. So...are there other locations and/or dealers out there where one can see a lot of trucks in one place? Thanks for any info.

Blucolr...the part of Texas you're heading to is rather sparsley populated, compared to the N'eastern states. I run US287 thru there to Amarillo/Borger quite often, & don't recall ever seeing an expediter. I see most expedite trucks between Dallas/Laredo, or along I10 & I20.

There is a small Freightliner dealer in Wichita Falls, nothing else 'till Amarillo. (edit to add, just checked, could not find a dealer there.) All larger dealerships are in the D/FW, San Antonio, Houston triangle. (along with 75% of the Texas population)

I kinda wish there was a market for the expedite trucks down here, but, the petro-chemical industry & oil patch want flat-bed hotshot trucks, so we provide ;)

Have a safe trip (the black & whites really, really like US 287...)

Blu: Try wandering into any of the Flying J's along ur route; Sullivan, MO, Joplin, and Tulsa often have van and staight trucks parked out front. IJust drove back to StL from TYulsa and saw panther trucks at each of those locations.

FYDA Freightliner always has several expediters . They have several locations . Check local truck stops and pick up the free truck classifyed papers .
