Here is somthing to ponder the Hampton Tunnel in VA which links Norfolk to Hampton is not tall enough to encompus the passing of a Semi Tractor trailer 13'6 now some of you may or may not Know this.

Now there are Tractors that go through on the Hampton side heading easterly toward Norfolk and they get by. (A few)

But East to West NA DA, unless your a LOW RIDER ya might.

Anyway to prevent the hassel, fines and all the ruckus you might want to remember to take the Moniter Merrimack as its Truck friendly.

Food for thought. If your travelen west on the Norfolk side don't be surprised when they pull ya over ask for licence, Reg ect take your truck Number then Issue a Nice fat juicy ticket yum yum.

By the way they have height sensors on the Norfolk side and once ya set them off they pull ya.

By the way before ya ask the answer is NO I already Knew about it.

Food For thought.

Have a Safe One
and God Bless

if you set off the over height lights and by pass inspection station and they stop you at the entrance to tunnel and you stop traffic
at the tunnel it is a $1,500 ticket and 3 points on your lic that what was on tv and in news papers in area for your info
and that also apply's to down town tunnel and midtown tunnel to

The sensors are not 100 % accurate. I have been stopped on several occasions. They will check your height again when they stop you at the check station. If anyone is close to max height and set off the alarm, try dumping your air bags (if you have em) while you are pulling into the check station. The checkers will also ask you to do that. It may save you some time from having to turn around. The checkers have always been very polite and helpful to me. I run both tunnels ALOT. Sometimes with high cubes, sometimes with standards and both have set off the alarms before. Just watch the message boards and lights.
