Would like some advice on the best way to leave Panther and get out of this till it picks back up. This weaks profit so far is about $75.00... Flogged a dead horse to long. Can make more at a fast food place. Never late, 90 percent acceptance, 98 percent safety...Still can't make it and others I know can't eather.
SHould I give a notice? Do you need to make an appointment to give quall com back? The exprance others have had would be nice with issue. I don't want them keeping all the money they owe me.How do I avoid that?
Thanks

Everything you need to know will be in the contract you signed. Make sure you follow it, and dot your i's and cross your t's.

Not sure how your insurance works with PII, whether they cover you thru theirs, or you have your own, but make sure to get your own before they delete yours, or you won't have any.

Did you give them the 2 weeks they asked for, mentioned in a previous post, to see some changes for the good? It can take just a good run or two to change quickly from a crappy week into a good one. At McD's you KNOW you will never make more than '$X', whereas with expediting, next week could bring more than the whole month of a crappy previous month.

I tried Panther from August to December in 2007, when I left I returned all the panther gear I had in the same condition it was received in. It took a month to get paid for my last trip and I'm still waiting for the monies that were escrowed.

Beemer, I won't presume to give any advice, only you know where your heart lies - but if you decide to quit, I have one thing to add: your insurance through Panther will be canceled at midnight, on the day you terminate your contract. Make sure you arrange for alternate coverage before then, and also, return ALL paperwork that belongs to Panther, including unused Pro sheets, etc. (You won't need it anyhow).
If you can be honest, and professional about why you're leaving, it may help them understand how to keep their contractors - if that's what they want to do.
Good luck to you, whatever you decide.

Thanks for the advice.. I got full coverage on insurace anyways by State Farm. I have no problem being professional and giving everything back to them.. Reason is I can't pay my basic with a $75.00 profit week..Meaning after gas. Can't do basic maitenance on my van.
See trucks sitting for days and they still hire more...They said it cost about $2500 dollars to put someone though orientation.
Would it not be cheaper to keep your good drivers busy and happy?
Was also wondering how long they kept the money they keep taking out week after week even if you don't get any runs through them.Read here a month plus so far...Could sure use the money now.
I called today and asked about Quall Com...Come on down and bring it all in we will take it out for you...Does that mean wait all day and maybe?
Yes I gave them two weeks and it put me in the hole deeper. MY fault I believed him.

Thanks again every one

Hey friend
1 ton E350 Ford.. I live in Amherst Ohio.. Panther Milan board..Usally a very good board.
I drive home if I am in a dead area meaning sitting for three days if its within 300 miles or so. It is more cost effective and comfortable. I have sat in Nashville with a first out for three days then finally leave or come back home and be out in three days.
Not so bad in the fall or spring but really don't like to bake in a van or sit in truckstops blowing money and inhaleing second hand smoke..If your by a truckstop even.
300 to 350 miles is about 3/4 tank of fuel.About $65.00. Sitting three days, cooler (you can only eat so many cold sandwhiches) fuel to idle not all day of course but some and a 10 dollar shower adds up cheaper to go home....
I am frugal trust me..have to be..Maybe not as frugal as my good friend HondaKing but I am frugal......He is so tight he can swallow a quarter and spit back out 4 dimes and two nickels

Thats cheap....
But HondaKing also waits till their about ready to throw the hot dogs away at the Pilots so he can get them half price if not free

Hey I do that with the Corn Dogs..they have a 2 hour limit and then they throw them out....*LOL*

Honestly...sorry you had a rough time...you have all the attributes, smart, alert, "frugal" and live in the middle of the frieght zone....guess it wasn't your time....Good Luck with whatever you do.

Yes Beemer, all bs aside, there is something wrong with your results considering your background and experience, and it seems your effort. Many folks don't realize how close they are to success whae they quit something. You may wanna consider moving to a nuther carrier (you now know what questions to ask the recruiter) not that even the straightest of em has a cyristal ball , or,hiring on with an contractor that has a D or E unit that needs a driver. Many don't understand the "luck" concept. An it might help if'n ya'd quit want'in to invite folks to a meeting when you are upset about tings. Could provide negative results.

I claim not to be an expert since I've only done this once. I gave my two weeks notice which they really didn't need. They told me to call when I was in the area, since I intended to tie up all loose ends in person. Like Cheri said make sure your insurance is covered for when you are driving away (you're covered, I know). I ran my busiest month going into my departure from Panther and stayed available until the evening before checking out (didn't care for a wake up call). I called Friday before the Monday I was quitting to get the name of the person I should meet for out-processing. I went to the headquarters building and the receptionist found the person who out-processed me. That person took me to their workstation and pulled up my records on the computer, asked a couple questions like why are you quitting, did you get enough miles...? All total ten minutes max. Then they told me to go over to the shop, so the shop people could remove the qc. No line at the shop, so I did the reverse of when they installed the qc. Waited in the drivers lounge for about forty minutes, and they came over and told me I was free to leave. Probably not a bad idea to get a receipt for your qc at this time. It took about a month for my pay to settle out which is pretty much how it always worked. During the whole process I tried to conduct myself in a way that would allow me to return in the future if I so choose.
