A gun free warship. That's definitely the creation of the Obama administration, Obama minions and Obama voters. "Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, who reportedly lobbied hard to get Congress and the Secretary of Defense on board with leaving the Navy’s newest addition to the fleet completely defenseless."
What's next, gun free soldiers also completely defenseless? Unbelievable.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's not really a creation of the Obama administration, it's a creation of the Duffle Blogger. In addition to the two fore and aft .50 caliber machine guns, the close-to-shore, small-displacement ship carries three helicopters. But it's primary weapons system is the RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile launchers designed to shoot down anti-ship cruise missiles, aircraft, and other targets.

The big controversial brouhaha isn't that it's an unarmed warship named in honor of Giffords, but that it's a heavily armed, low displacement, stealth warship named after the poster girl for gun control.

For future reference, the DuffleBlog is a "The Onion" type of satire site that deals primarily with military topics.

Also for future reference, satire shouldn't be taken seriously.

Just further proof that people see what they want, and then stop looking. Also that they read the headlines, [and maybe the bullet points] but not much more. Then they are "informed", and they spread the news.

What's sad is... I don't normally read them but in this case I was curious about the comments under the story, because there were so many of them. In the comments, even after being informed that it was satire, there were people who preferred to believe the satire rather than the actual truth.
