I got to play around with one of those for a good chunk of time. While not feature rich like some of the better known names, it has a pretty low learning curve and the maps were pretty acurate. I think I'm going to pick one of those up here in the next couple of days.

i guess expediters and atlases don't get along or maybe an atlas is to much work. the old fashioned way is cheaper and if you know what your doing you can still get where your going. and before someone goes to explaining expedite to me i've done it.

Well, I think you can use both the gadget and the book to great effect in concert. On average, an atlas is rather an unweildy thing to look at whilst you are in the driver's seat, a GPS unit gives you that information without distracting as much attention from driving as an atlas or map.

Another way I see it, is that the GPS is great for detail and immediate information and an atlas is great for long range planning.

Plus gadgets are just plain fun. :D

it was a pick. just a joke because i hear so much talk about garmin and less about rand mcnally. plus the atlas tells you how to get around the scales.

I just happened to run across a ad for it while checking something else out and I thought some might be interested, so I thru in the link. Hope it works out for you. The price seems reasonable.
Myself I have streets and trips on my laptop.

Best of Luck,

We used to have a MIO GPS device not the same model as that one but the company MIO is not good in me and my wife's opinion they dont update there maps I emailed and called them about this and they kept telling me they will get to it an keep checking there web site well that was almost 2 years ago and no updates the GPS device it self was ok I guess but because of the company and how they handled that we bought a Magellan GPS device they ask you to tell them if there are new roads, highways, exit ramps, ETC. ETC. there device also contains all US MAPS and Canada internaly no switching memory cards for different states. Lastly there devices all hook up to you PC or Laptop to be updated. Just though you guys would like to know from a formal MIO owner.

The Megellans, although better displays and user friendly are NOT DEPENDABLE. Only purchase one of those units somewhere, where the retailer will stand behind you 100% or you will be left on hold trying to find out how to ship it back for repairs.

I am not the only one on this site who expierenced this (problem) althogh I purcahsed mine at Cotsco 100% customer satisfaction, just box it back up and exhcange it for another. It become a pain in the but to keep returning time after time and exchanging it for another. Now if I would have purcahsed at Best Buy I would have been SOL.

Terry is one I know who went thru the exact same problems I did. The Garmin has never failed, not as user friendly but dependable as all get out.

Same here w / the magellan problems (700 series) On my second one now, and it will be the last one. Doing some research online evidently the problems w/ magellan are pretty well widespread. Customer support is over in some non-English speaking country somewhere. The operating system is windows based and probably has something to do with its problems. (imho) Next unit will definetely be a garmin.

Yes, mapquest is free but after the third time they misrouted me I decided not to use those directions if possible...We just got a Mio and Zak is having a great time with it!
