GPS Causes Bridge Crashes

Here is what jumped out of the story and caught my attention.

"Every week we hear of another truck striking a bridge on our parkways," said Spano, standing with Paterson at the bill's announcement.

As everyone knows,or should know is that trucks are not allowed on parkways in NY.

ive been running nyc for 30 years, new yorks bridges have always been measured from above the curb so it would allow for ice build up in the winter.
As far as following your gps turn by turn, you better realize it isnt full proof.
My partner uses a gps,and its tried to turn us down dirt roads that were on the wrong end of the street.yes it would have been shorter

Not one word about overheight detection sensors .

Only sensor in NY I know of is before the tunnels. The atlas doesnt have all the low bridges marked either
If you see a bridge with not height markings,by law it is to be 14 feet,If you hit a bridge marked taller than your truck, stae is responsible.I once hit a bridge in Buffalo,13.6's are suppose to be good.Front of truck made it,but the trailers we were pulling for Roberts Express, were high cube, and at the rear were 13.7.I was charged for the accident.
