Government Shutdown Question

I heard an interesting tidbit on the news last night as I watched the reporting on the federal government shutdown. It was reported that when the government shut down 17 years ago, contractors did not get paid for the work they did while the shutdown was in progress.

For long time veterans of the expediting industry who were in the business way back then, do you remember being affect in that way then? Do you know of any truckers who were?

It may not be much of an issue at all since the people who ship government freight are not on the job to do it. Just curious.

Here's another question about the government shutdown. Have you felt any effects in your business?

Diane and I have been out of service for the last few weeks to tend to other matters but will soon go back out. How is it out there? Busy? Slow? Has the governemnt shutdown made any difference in how expedited freight is moving and the pay rate it is moving at?

We are busy. So are most I have spoken to out here. You have to be careful about rates and stick to your guns, turning down loads that don't pay a reasonable rate. As you know, our freight is often "different" than many others freight, not quite as tied to the economy. We tend to avoid government loads during good times, most pay too low for our truck, now, won't take them at all as long as this continues. Besides, it is NEVER good to do business with a bankrupt company.

But what about your new acceptance rate points?
