I'm probably gonna catch flack for this, but here goes. Are there any other CB-DJs around here? I don't play the whole song, as it's just rude. LOL And I don't interupt anyone while they're talking. Just that sometimes it's dead and there's a good song on... either just good, or good to stir the pot (to put it lightly).

If you do DJ, what song is your favorite to play? Mine is YMCA cause I love the reaction it gets! :7

Must be very slow if I'm telling you this! :7 :7 :7

I don't care for CB disc jockeys or singers. Although I have heard a few good voices over the years. How would you like it if I broadcast my crappy music over the radio. Keep it to yourself, that and your choice of underwear or lack of.

As for stirring the pot; when the CB pot is stirred all the scum and slag quickly rises to the top.

Maybe I shouldn't have posted this. But if everyone kept everything to themselves, there wouldn't be any conversation. I remember one dj played some jazz, and we got talking about jazz. When the Hawks score a td, I yell TOUCHDOWN. Then someone usually asks what the score is, and we talk about football. Not everyone is of the "Shut up, stupid" mentality.

I hate Chicago, but I have to say it has the best cb conversation. Usually better than the comedy station. Tennessee has the best all around chat, remenicent of the old days on the cb. I don't usually mess around then. But overall, if drivers didn't like the banter, I wouldn't do it myself.

as for stirring the pot i like to play anything rap. that will get it started. or i go into my alter ego which is funny.
My alter ego is known as the "Mississippi Playboy". I usually say something like "Breaker breaker 1 9 you drivas need to hide yo wifes and daughtas cuz da mississippi playboy dun made it on inta town, and when dat mississippi playboy roll inta town all those beatiful white womens gatha round, come on. that stirs the pot up pretty good. what can i say you need some entertainment when driving at night. Plus alot of people thinks its funny and they get a good laugh out of it.

Ark, did you ever drive for Shaffer?

I was going around Madison, Wisconsin on I-90 during rush hour. Someone was doing the DJ thing and broadcasting rap on channel 19. I was in the right lane and gradually overtaking a Shaffer truck. The closer I got the stronger the signal and rap (music). I suspected that the source was Shaffer. A few miles down the line the Shaffer truck began closing the gap on me. Him in the center lane and me in the right lane. As he went by me I looked in my mirror and caught him holding his mic up to a speaker. I didn't know he saw me watching him. When he was about a 1/2 mile ahead of me I announced to the world that the westbound Shaffer truck was responsible for the rap and commentary. Three minutes later my phone rang. It was Con-Way dispatch telling me they had a complaint about my erratic lane changes and aggresive driving.

The next day I removed the 800 number and unit number from the rear doors of my van.

Aside from the fact that singing or playing music on a CB radion violates federal regulations, it is likely more annoying to many dozens of drivers times those that do it, or like it. Advertising is also illegal. Prosecutions are probably rarer than the complaints.

Announcing that you aren't wearing panties is OK, unless you're accompanied by backgroung music.

no i have never drove for shaffer. when i do it it's like a few seconds then i lay off. i don't do it for hours on end. now on the subject of it being illegal. i know it's true but if the fcc let's all that filth and homosexuality be shown on tv they shouldn't worry about me playing music for 5 seconds.

Eh some of its pretty good. Me and a another trucker were rolling in the middle of no where. I had no radio except the CB and he played a good ol rock song for about 5 seconds. I got on and said my radio dont work and i like that song. So he played the rest for me. Other then that i kinda shy away from the radio. If i try to CB-DJ its just comes in real bad through the speakers thus sending out a bad sounding transmitt.

Hi

Never done the CB-DJ thing but we use to play CB-hangman while driving down the 401.Nobody ever complained.

most people who complain are mad about something and want to unleash some anger and frustration. the cb was to talk on and visit and pass the time. it a good way to help stay awake as well.

Hi

Somebody picks a word and then the other drivers have to try an guess the word just like regular hangman.Another good game to play if your running with a team is Trivial Pursuit. The passinger reads the guestion over the cb and the other drivers try to answer it. First driver to get 10 cards wins.

Speaking of games. We had a driver at Thompsons who always played Skipbo (sp) while hanging out waiting for a load.It was the only card game he knew.

Good way to kill time and make freinds.

I've pretty much reserved the CB for times when I need some info, cause it's really obnoxious most of the time. I'll never forget going to see the Cowboys play in Dallas 25 yrs ago, getting totally lost coming out of Texas Stadium, asking for directions to the Interstate on the CB, and having a big truck driver say "Follow me, I'll flash my lights till you get behind me" Somehow, I don't think that happens much anymore! Is it more civil in Canada? Or are the same idiots on there, too?
I don't mind a few seconds of music, but some people are just plain a**holes with a microphone!

Long ago before the power to the cb went dead I would key it during the short segment of William Tell Overture theme song to one of my shows on satellite radio.
