help with sprinter DEF system
NEED SOME HELP
anybody with a sprinter 2010 or newer with def system . i have an on going problem that mabee someone else has had with the def not working .the def warning came on so i stopped and filled it but it only took 2 gallons . the warning went out and everthing seemed to be normal untill the 9 warning startes appeared . went to dealer they said that the system had froze and couldnt reset it . the engine light came on so they said it needed new nox sensore at $1000 . then another sensor at $1300 and then left dealer everthing seemed ok . one hours later engine light on again so i went back and they said def system not working at all , it is frozzen and needs a new def computer special order from germany to be made to my vans specs . i left and ya def system is not using any fluid for last 20,000 miles but after $3000 so far with there guessing at sensors how should i trust that they be right this time with new computer . anybody had this def frozzen problem with there sprinter that i can look at something different to repair the proper thing
thanks in advance ...............

THE REPAIR WAS A CPI MODULE AT ALMOST $2000 BUCKS . THE DEF SYSTEM WHENT TO THE 9 STARTS REMAINING BUT DOEST START A COUNT DOWN , JUST FREEZES THE SYSTEM ECT ECT. THE CPI IS A SPECIAL ORDER FROM GERMANY MADE TO YOUR VANS SPECS AND IF YOU DONT GERT IT FIXED IT CAUSES A WHOLE LOT OF EXTRA MONEY IN REPAIRS . IT DOESNT ALOUD THE REGEN PROCESS FOR THE DPF FILTER AND CAUSE THE CATALIST TO PLUG UP AS WELL AND THAT REPAIR IS ABOUT $5000 . I GOT LUCKEY THIS TIME AND IF I HAD WAITED ANY LONGER TO FIX IT WOULD OF COST ME A LOT MORE .
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP BEFORE :)

Can't the DPF can be removed or hollowed out like a catalytic converter?

They are talking about the fluid tank and sensors not the filter. To answer your question to remove the filter you we need a reprogrammed CPU like a dpf delete. Hollowing out or drilling is very tricky the van will go into limp mode if the correct back pressure and other things is not correct hence the dpf delete CPU.

You have to be rich to begin with to own a Sprinter. If you're rich enough to own and maintain one, then you're probably doing Expedited as a hobby anyway.

It could also mean we are doing expedite the correct way, maintaining a reasonable profit and managing our business properly...;)

That's funny stuff. It is just our government and their emissions requirements. Get a new ford diesel and you deal with the same things.

it could be disabled and run a straight pipe threw the dpf . there is a kit on line for about $2000 , engine light may stay on and then you wont know about any other problems . if you get caught running with no emisions or the straight pipe on the road the fines could be 5-10 thousand and then a repair on the road a few thousand more . believe me with all the def related problems i have had i would disable if i could .
