The hockey world and especially hockey town are mourning the passing of the greatest player to lace up the skates.

Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe dies at 88 years old

The only time I paid much attention to hockey was when he played for Houston. He was a class guy.

I saw him once when I was a young 12 year old in the Winnipeg airport and he took the time to respond to my wave and goofy giddiness. I've never forgotten that time when he said "hey kid". RIP Mr. Hockey.
