You want to do something about the politicians in Washington? Check out this "grass roots" attempt at putting an end to our career politicians that we have in office.

I hear, "Vote 'em all out", "Vote all the scum out", etc, etc.....

Well here's your chance, quit crying about it and do something about our situation if you're not happy!

GOOOH | Get Out of Our House: A non-partisan political party!

I have to tell you, I'm surprised nobody has commented either negatively or positively on the link I posted.

I was wondering if anyone has checked out the web site and if anyone has any comments, concerns or opinions on the goal of this organization? I am still combing through the site and reading the forums and information they have trying to decide if I'll sign up or not. Everything I've seen so far I like. One thing I do like is that I do not see a bunch of mud slinging by the owners of the website(except for a few of the members in the forums) and it appears as if they are putting the blame on the American people for what we have had in Washington for years and placing the responsibility where it belongs, with us.

Anyone care to comment?

I get nervous about "clicking" on links that I'm not "familiar" with. So I did not check it out.

Jim, it was on fox news and Glenn Beck so it's got to be legit :D I won't hold that against them though, they are just trying to get the word out. I understand your concern though, I highly recommend checking the website out. I am curious of the feedback on what they are trying to do.

I did check it out when the thread first went up - didn't read everything on the site, but it appears on the surface to be a group that wants to resurrect the term limits movement that was attempted several years ago. Unfortunately, we'll never see a congress that will advocate voting themselves out of the most cushy job anyone could ever hope to have (remember the candidates that reneged on their term limit pledge?). There might be a few that would agree with limiting themselves, but they would be a distinct minority. The GOOOH group has a nice concept though...

hmmmm......it's a tad more than term limits, I mean GOOOH is an acronym for Get Out Of Our House, maybe this will help.

Mission

GOOOH stands for 'Get Out of Our House' and is pronounced like the word 'go'. It is a NON-PARTISAN plan to evict the 435 career politicians in the U.S. House of Representatives and replace them with everyday Americans just like you.

If you are tired of career politicians, GOOOH is for you. If you believe money has corrupted Washington, GOOOH is for you. If you believe politicians have too much power, GOOOH is for you. If you are weary of the death grip the two parties have on our government, and are ready to return control of our government to the people, then GOOOH is for you.

GOOOH is NOT just another political party. It is a system that will allow you and your neighbors to choose, among yourselves, the person who can best represent your district.

GOOOH is an evolving system and your input is requested. The questions are changing based on the feedback of members just like you. Participate in the forums, take the survey, and send us your thoughts. This is YOUR system. We will perfect it with your input.

GOOOH is a new system that will allow "we the people" to select true representatives, not choose between a Democrat and a Republican. If we continue to elect career politicians who represent their party, the special interests that fund them, and themselves, nothing will change. GOOOH is a non-partisan process that will allow us to effect the change we all know we need.

GOOOH will allow you to:

Help select your Representative - while being considered yourself
Hold your Representative accountable
Replace career politicians - with true representatives
Take the money out of the process
The GOOOH process allows Americans of every political leaning to participate in the selection of their District's Representative while being considered themselves. Through GOOOH's Candidate Selection Sessions you and your peers will select the candidate in your district who best represents your district's views. Even if you do not wish to become your district's representative you will want to participate in the process and have a direct say in who is chosen to represent your district. GOOOH will fund a single national campaign to promote the 435 candidates (one from each district) who are selected to run against the party politicians. Because GOOOH is a process for selecting representatives (not an agenda-based party platform) we expect a person left of center to be selected in San Francisco and one right of center in Colorado Springs -- but it will be up to the GOOOH members in each district to decide.

Originally, the founder of GOOOH proposed excluding lawyers, members of political families, and individuals with more than $11.5 million in assets (250 times the median income). They were not to be excluded because they are bad people, but because they are overly represented in government today and, generally speaking, no longer seem to represent the common man. However, based on input from our members, the Question Committee has voted to remove the exclusion of lawyers and the wealthy. Instead, it has been decided that members of these two groups must simply declare that they are a lawyer or have more than $11.5m in assets in each Selection Session in which they participate. It will be up to the participants in each pool to decide whether or not that is of concern. We believe this change is indicative of the continuing evolution of the GOOOH system.

We hope you will join GOOOH today and help us take our House back from the politicians!

For GOOOH to succeed we will need 500,000 participants. We will continue to build our base of supporters until we have the participation we need, at which time we will begin our effort to access the ballot. The rules are different in each state, and the politicians have done a great job of building barriers to prevent competition, but they have left the drawbridge down. In some states, we will form a party, call it the GOOOH party for now. In states like Washington and Texas that is not presently an option. In some states our candidates may run as Independents. In others we may run as a Republican or Democrat, even competing in the primary if time allows. We may run on some other Party’s ticket, such as the Libertarian Party or the Constitution Party. When we reach our membership goal, the rules in each state and the willingness of established parties to cooperate will help determine how we access the ballot. But one thing is certain: once we get to 500,000 members and begin our push, politicians will find themselves in an extremely difficult position justifying why a GOOOH candidate will not be allowed on the ballot. And remember, 500,000 is just the start. We will soon have five and then fifty million or more supporting GOOOH. How many state representatives are going to want to stand in the way of us getting on the ballot? We look forward to that “discussion.”

hmmmm......am I on everyones ignore list or something?

Yep I can't see anything you post:eek:

Does sound like something we need, but I doubt that I would contribute $100.00. We can start the ball rolling by voting all incumbents out.

From what I understand you don't have to contribute the $100 if you do not want to and they will not ask for the $100 until they have signed up the 500,000 members they are looking for. Really the only investment is your time in filling out the questionaire when you decide to sign up.

I am in agreement on voting all the incumbents out but then who will take their places, other career politicians? Wouldn't you rather put in place a person that represents the people chosen by the people from your district?

This sounds like an interesting group, I will have to keep an eye on them. I would have to learn more about their agenda. Reading the "how would you vote" thingy was interesting. It does sound more like a new party in formation, even if they are not stating it, not that I would have any problem with it if they were.

I have the same concerns as well but they do state the following:

GOOOH will fund a single national campaign to promote the 435 candidates (one from each district) who are selected to run against the party politicians. The thing I like is that it is funded by us and the reps. would be selected through the "process" by the people in your district. In theory you would be eliminating the "special intrests" that corrupts so many now. Not that it couldn't be corrupt but If you have PEOPLE involved and wanting to make a difference in politics it would make it much more difficult.

I think it is a very interesting group to keep an eye on. I know, however, that most "groups" have agenda's or multiple agenda's and I would like to know more about theirs. By the way, I do not think that "agenda" is a bad word or thing, I just want to know more about theirs.

I have to say I am bit surprised that this post hasn't spawned more conversation (good or bad) about the things we can do to change the way our Govt. and its politicians are running things in Washington, even if it has nothing to do with the GOOOH strategy I really thought there would be more converstation on what we, THE PEOPLE can do.

I am starting to believe that those in the Soapbox would just rather complain about what's going on in our Govt. rather than doing something about it.

I am planning on watching the group. They will not be interesting to liberals, they like a controlling government, it removes the need for them to think for themselves. Anyone who still thinks that either of those two criminal groups that we call political parties are okee dokee won't like this bunch either.

That only leaves us independent thinkers. There are far fewer of them than professes to be.

Just keep in mind Witness, libs like and want this mess. So it will be us meenies that fight it!!

I find it very discouraging when presented a way to change the politics in Washington here in the Soapbox there has been no dialogue from the participants here other than Layout.

I am planning on watching the group.

No offense Layout but sitting on the sidelines doing nothing is not going to change anything and is starting to prove what I've thougt for a long time about most here in the Soapbox which is, I want to *****, moan, complain, split hairs, divide, my party is better than yours, etc, etc..... and not try to do anything to make this country better.

They will not be interesting to liberals, they like a controlling government, it removes the need for them to think for themselves. Anyone who still thinks that either of those two criminal groups that we call political parties are okee dokee won't like this bunch either.

I think you are selling the American people short Layout. I am not about "labeling" people and I think it is irresponsible to do so it does nothing but divide us. I contend that so-called liberals and conservatives or far right or far left is a small majority of our great nation. They are the only ones getting out and doing something for their party. I think, this is only my opinion, that there are a lot more people in our Nation that are just fed up with politics and sit on the "sidelines" and do nothing. I think this group is a way to get those people back into caring what goes on with their representation.

That only leaves us independent thinkers. There are far fewer of them than professes to be.

Again, I think you are selling the American people short and coming across as there is no hope, I could be wrong but that is what I take from your post.

I responded to you because I was actually taken aback at your response, I did not expect it from you Layout.

If you recall, I posed the question quite some time ago about voting all the incumbents out. Here is what was posted:

http://www.expeditersonline.com/forum/soapbox/39503-vote-all-scum-out.html

Read through those posts then visit the GOOOH web-site and compare what they are advocating and what the few in the Soapbox have said.

It is free to join, there is no obligation to give a donation unless you choose to participate in the Candidate Selection Sessions. Put your money were your mouths are people of the Soapbox, start being the solution to the problem and take responsibility for yourselves by doing something.

Oh I most likely will join, just doing a bit more research. As for selling the American people short, that is not hard to do, after all, they voted Obama, Clinton and Bush in did they not? Not that there were many real choices.

I will have time this weekend to look at it more.

I like this idea. Sort of an American styled 'House of Commons.' I agree 100% that there should be no such thing as a career politician.
