Good places to park

I expect there will be times my son and I are satisfied its time for some home leave but we are much to far to DH. If we decide to fly, where can we park a 40' expediter for a week or more, confident the truck will be safe upon our return?

One driver suggested it would be a good time to have the truck pm'd at the dealer, no problem leaving the truck with them for a spell. Any other creative ideas?

Most airports have off site park and ride lots. These should be able to accommodate a straight truck. Then hop the shuttle bus to the airport. Expect to pay $10 or more per day. When you have some time, go online and check out off site parking for some airports you may fly out of. Call and see about parking a truck. You really aren't much different than a large RV.

I like the p.m. at the truck dealer idea. But then you are on your own as to getting to the airport and back to your truck.

Some dealers will take you to an airport ifit is close by. You would probably rest easy knowing that the truck is a secure location. I would suggest you get a major airline credit card and charge all of your expenses on it. This way you build up points for travel.

A dealership is one of the last places I would choose to park a truck for a week or more. Most dealerships I have been in have signs posted about not being responsible for the contents of your truck while it is parked on the property. I have asked about the signs and have told about truck break-ins that have happened in dealer yards.

I like the airport park and ride idea better. Airport lots are well lit, generally busy, usually monitored by cameras, and often patrolled by security.

I park at a Home Depot (with permission), the one I park at has an extra large parking lot where there are always 2 or 3 other trucks parked there as well. Well lit, police patrol it regularly too.

I like the Home Depot idea...I've often thought about between loads or a Sat-Sun renting myself out. they charge a fortune for the truck they have...and Lowes too.

Renting yourself out sounds like a great idea, if you have the authority and insurance to do it - otherwise, a nightmare!
Perhaps a secure storage lot would be feasible, for a week?
