Commercial insurance is for commercial use

Even commercial insurance might not cover expediting. Regular insurance for-sure won't.

As for dispatchers being insurance experts, I have my doubts.

Yes, if they offer it. Not free, but normally at reduced group cost.

Call them up and ask them what their insurance rates are.

Every company is different. If the company is small, the rates will be higher. If the company is large, they will get a big discount rate and its pass along to the driver. Like Treadmill said, call there safety department and ask "if they have one"

If you want a reality check; get your own proof of coverage, in an actual claim situation 99% of companies will pass ALL the responsibility unto you regardless of their warm and happy verbal promises
