Good deal or Bad

Hey all, I just applied to a local expedite company, the owner said they pay the driver .22 cent per mile for straight truck and .18 cents for van. This is both loaded and deadhead miles. The only thing I would have to pay for is my food and stuff on the road.
How does this sound? (Should I be cautious?) I did not ask if it was hub miles or computer, since they pay loaded and deadhead. They pay Fuel and everything.

Most owners should be paying 40 percent of the gross if the owner is paying fuel. The fuel surcharge should go to the owner as well if he is covering fuel.
With that said, at an industry average of $1.20 per mile, your pay per loaded mile is .48 per mile. Are you going to deadhead more than run with a load? Hopefully not.
Plain and simple, it is a bad deal. Much better opportunities out there. .22 cents for ALL miles is a joke. If you are teaming and .44 cents go to the truck that is better.

Then again.......I should revamp my pay structure. On this plan of .22 cents for all miles I could cover all of my driver's pay with the fuel surcharge.

if this is a one way company and they deadhead home ever time its not as bad as it looks. I aggree it could be better but think about it.

From the upstate of SC to Chicago its what...700 miles. You leave at 5 pm, drop in Chicago at 4 am and get the heck out before rush hour. Stop south of Gary and take a nap then drive home. in less than 30 hours you've made $252. Thats $8.40 per hour including the time you sleep. Again, could be better but your just sitting on your tail driving. (boy, i'll get beat up for that statement won't I?)
