Good-bye to Gun Control?

IF "Bumbling Barry" thinks he can outlaw guns, thet twit had better remember this. We were building our OWN guns LONG before his sorry butt was ever born. We whipped the Brits with homemade guns, and if needed, we will whip his butt too!

Seen this and didn't know it existed. Building your own guns. Gun control won't mean much with this capability that appears to be evolving.
It will be quite a while - if ever - before that type of capability is really suitable for building anything comparable in precision and durability to currently manufactured firearms ...

On the other hand, as LOS points out, we've been building guns for a long time - sophisticated machine tools - mills, lathes, boring/rifling rigs - including ones with CAD/CAM capability - are widely available and can often be picked up relatively cheaply ...

Short of outlawing and confiscating basic machine tools, guns ain't likely going away ... ever ...

Clandestine gunsmithing, mobile machine shops, motel rooms rented by the month for gun making. Are these the new meth labs?

Outlawing drugs has not work. Murder has long been illegal and it has never stopped. When are they going to figure out that, for the most part, people are going to do what they want. Passing laws to stop them will create more crime and criminals.

Let's try this one. Smoking pot has long been illegal and that did not stop Barry.

An old friend of mine has a GREAT idea. Since Obama believes in "Gun Free Zones" MAYBE HE should disarm the Secret Service and announce the fact to the world. After all if it is good for schools it is good for him.

Bad idea. Have to remember who is still the vice president.

It makes no difference. Ain't been a good one in my lifetime. Mediocre at best. Cheech or Chong, who cares? Besides, nothing will happen, gun free zones stop gun crimes. Just as Obama and the like.

For some they may well be ... although I suspect mobile machine shops probably aren't in the cards for the most part ...

Most likely they will be small non-desrcript building buildings, like my neighbor's polebarn at the far end of our property which houses a fairly complete machine shop full of all kinds of interesting toys ...

There's a whole lot of machinists and career tool & die makers that are out there ...

Shoot ... there's probably enough people with the appropriate skill sets just in my immediate neighborhood alone to start a small arms manufacturing company ...

If a former photographer can manage to put together a credible operation, I'd imagine there are plenty of others that can too.

There are THOUSANDS of qualified gun makers in the country today. There are THOUSANDS of others that make tools and do metal work as well. MOST of the guns that are made by those gun makers are FAR better than what is made in mass production. Many make "AR" type rifles as well. They will do well when mass produced firearms are not available. Just as the 'drug cartels'. See what THEY think about 'legalized' drugs.

Mr. Barrett is a pretty cool guy. Met him once.

Created quite a bit of disrespect for the rule of law, and increased the level of corruption in society !!.

No wonder. Prohibition is completely out of the gummint's enumerated powers. Then again, so is gun control. I've searched the text of the Second Amendment; the term "reasonable restrictions" is absent.
Would you respect the law if it forbade wearing blue shirts, or would your respect for the law evaporate?

I envision long and tall Sprinter 3500s plying suburban and rural roads of America. Each containing a generator, basic metal working machines and sporting the Hans Expedite Company markings. Their specialty will be Sig Sauer and Heckler & Koch knock-offs.

The people that are put out of work by a ban like Obama wants are going to make a living. Likely more than they do with a "legal" job now. How foolish our politicians are, and those who believe them.

Barrett looks like an Americanized version of an Italian name. Does he have any gun makers in his lineage from the old country?

I have no idea. Only met him once for a few minutes. Picked up a load at his factory and he happened to be back at the dock talking to someone.

Cool place. Everyone I talked to LOVED working there. I asked him for a "free sample" rifle and that got a really good laugh out of him.
