Love that truck but NO sleeper is NO good. That's a class you MUST stay legal in. Can't stay legal as easy with no sleeper.

It's my opinion that the steering/suspension on these is not as sturdy as it should be. I've seen lots of problems with bushing wear, steering box wear, etc. The ride quality often sucks. The interiors are made of brittle plastics that are easy to damage when taken apart and reassembled. After a while the whole interior is rattling and shaking. Finally, if you have to take the dog box out, you might as well rip out all the seats to be able to semi-comfortably get to anything.

I still do not like CAT engines of this size, but at least it's not a C7.

Good, basic, dependable truck.
Been out of production for many years, so not sure about parts availability.
Zorry said when he hauled them U-Haul bought them by the thousands.
Schawns bought hundreds at a time, converted to propane.
What are you hauling ? Or have you budgeted big $$$ to redo rear doors ?

I appreciate your feedback . My biggest selling point is the low miles 292k for a 2004 truck means it was driven barely .25k in a yr

Secondly it's engine coupled to a Eaton transmission on a 18 inch box means I am not hauling a lot of dead weight

It also comes with 5 yrs of maintainance records and finally, I am getting for cheap.

I would prefer a Freightliner m2 but I've heard good things of the gmc topkick

Why is that? I find the older m2s without the emissions stuff very reliable. I have a 2004 that has never broken down and it's got 450k miles now

Hi murray,
I am going to put a driver on this so my intention is drive it for 3 weeks out get back my purchase price cash back and then let it go run until It buys it's next truck

My plan to build a small fleet or pre emissions trucks that were off leases and owned by companies not some OO like me

True @bigstick Jr that's why I need to buy this fairly decent unit and then run the other one until the engine goes out, rebuild it and keep it for another 2 or so yrs .

I don't want to mess with newer trucks to much debt and expensive repairs

I believe you have some good ideas.
Your biggest problem will be finding good drivers.
Few will work as hard or smart as you.
Few will take care of your equipment as well as you.

That in a nutshell is why I am not a fleet owner.

Let me give you a little secret .. immigrant drivers.. they wanna work ... in my carrier, the American drivers ask for too much ..they've want to be home every two weeks, they want a new truck can't drive truck Older than 2012..et.c and want to follow every damn rule on the book.....sorry but that is just the truth.

The migrant drivers especially from south america, are hungry for money and work for it
