>Why is it that people think that a national health care

I wrote Senator Gramm about HIPAA. That was the biggest scam on the American people. I get a good laugh every time I go the the pharmacy or hospital now since that passed. Yes, please stand back so you can't hear about Joe Blow's Proctozone cream for his hemorrhoids or the poor nurse now playing hide the charts.

People just refuse to learn in this country. When government claims they want to protect you from something they really want to attack that which they claim they will protect you from.

Not sure how deep you ventured into HIPAA but those regulations also allowed for the transfer of medical info to INTERNATIONAL institutions. Whenever a government document uses those words that mean United Nations run institutions. For now, they claim, there will be no personal identifiers. Helping to stop Commie Care also aides in stopping International Commie Care.

This topic was about GM not health care or the lack of it so lets try to keep it on track.

Gm has been crying about health care for some time now. So I wonder why so many Canadians are losing their jobs when their health care is a fraction of what it is here? Why would'nt they take advantage of that?

Okay, I know this is off track but I figured I would let the US folks in on this. My mom has been an RN for 30 yrs and now lives in Michigan, she bought a big house for retirement in Canada, specifically Prince Edward Island and while up there she cut her thumb doing yardwork.

She went to the local hospital for treatment and while there was offered a job by a Doctor whose citizenship was from Belguim or he had dual citizenship and was paid in US funds. The whole hospital was staffed by Europeans that had Retroprocity. He offered my mom 90 grand US per year if she could start this year. Even with the union in the US she belongs to as a supervisor she was making 55 grand so thats a 35 grand raise.

So if its a goverment subsidised health care system where is all that US cash coming from to pay the nurses and doctors?

As far as GM goes they knew for years they were going down this road and they figure as long as no-one Govt wise is putting a stop to the outflow of US jobs they have 3 more years to really screw things up.

Bottom line is they want the unions gone, ca-put, history and are doing everything they can to get rid of them.

Out of 111 runs I had 8 that went to either GM or Delphi by name. I had 23 that went to other named sources such as Mitsubishi, Caterpiller, Nissan etc. and I had 33 that went to suppliers such as TRW etc. so 7.25% of my runs went to GM/Delphi and 29.7% went to places like TRW that could later lead to GM/Delphi. I'd arbitrarily put that at 10% of my loads being affected by GM/Delphi. I don't know what percentage of the total GM/Delphi production is being shut down but even if it was all shut down that would be a 10% affect on my runs. Probably it's somewhere in the 2-3% of total runs that would be affected but that's just a guesstimate.

When I spun off from being a Contractor for a Company to doing my own thing, I immediately went for non-automotive moves. I personnally never cared for visiting the (any) auto plants. We now do about 8-10% total automotive (selectively). ie. if it is a good long run, we can put up with some nonsence on loading and delivery.A word to the wise for everyone in this business, it is extreemely dynamic. If you have all your eggs in a basket, i'd be spreading them out.

Like X O6col said.. I am very lucky that my carrier does very, very little in Automotive, usually a Transfere from Canada is about it.

With that said though, it is still not a good thing for our industry in the short term. These carriers are gona have to look elsewhere and cut into what we have been carrying if they can.

Industries evolve and go away, this may be the beginning of the end for GM or they might pull a Lee out of a basket and become another Chrysler. That seems to be the only American Auto Mfg I ever carry parts for anyway. I can count all of the automotive loads in the last ten months on one hand and still have a finger left.
