Global Warming, the religion of the nuts

I did read the article and did a little research beyond that on the IPCC (took about 2 minutes). Did you know the people that compile this report do no research of thier own? This is a quote from thier homepage:

The IPCC does not carry out research nor does it monitor climate related data or other relevant parameters. It bases its assessment mainly on peer reviewed and published scientific/technical literature.

Now, what that means to me is they can choose the reports and data that support the conclusions they want to represent.

I have no doubt you could compile test results and studies to support the opposing viewpoint. Don't take everything you read at face value. Dig a little deeper.

There's research out there that states the world is getting warmer... because the Sun is getting hotter. Makes a heckuva lot more sense. Plus... the US wouldn't have to get bullied into cutting back on their pollution when the rest of the world is getting a free pass. The Kyoto Treaty was a crock, and W knew it. How can you agree to something that critical to our country without having concrete evidence supporting it?

This may be a dumb question, but I wonder what caused the warming and cooling cycles that happened before the evil humans started causing it? Dinosaurs were pretty big, so that had to be a lot of flatulance!

Well I got to ask, why is it that this report has been called a scientific report when there are no established science methods used?

I mean harkening back to a South Park episode, Gnomes, where the Underpants Gnomes who are a community of underground gnomes who steal underpants, notably from one character Tweek.

The Underpants Gnomes have a three-phase business plan, consisting of:

1. Collect Underpants
2. ???
3. Profit!

When confronted about the missing step 2, they were dumbfounded that anyone would ask about it.

So applying this to the latest report and the religion of global warming, I see it this way;

Step 1 – collect information

Step 2 - ???

Step 3 – report that we are destroying the planet.

I read a lot about the different environmental movements and have to point out that we as a community of truckers (or what ever you call it) are the ones on the front line, the ones who will be the first to be forced to change our way of life to possibly support a fallacy.

I don’t like being told I am destroying something that no one has yet proven under the proper and well establish methods used by a few hundred years of serious scientific research.

I also don’t like being told that I have to change while the people who are preaching to me and you still live in the rather unrealistic size house, work in an industry that pollutes more than I ever could and won’t give up their live style or lively hood in order to make a change.

There is a lot of evidence that was left out of this and the previous report, one being the hard evidence that we have gone through a warming period 1000 years ago and the fact that Greenland was names so to reflect that it was, well GREEN.

The other thing is that this report and the contributors have a financial stake in the entire thing, without the deceit they would not be able to make any money.

According to historical records of the time, there were grapevines growing in Scotland (and the resulting wineries) between the 10th and 13th centuries AD. The climate and temps of that era resulted in conditions of the northern Atlantic ocean which allowed the Vikings to travel more extensively in their primitive ships without being capsized than would have otherwise have been possible in later centuries. In other words, there was an even more pronounced global warming phase at a time which preceded the industrial age.

I heard this bit of scientific trivia while listening to an interview of some scientist on NPR in the wee hours of the AM on the way to South Bend, IN night before last. However, this sort of recorded factual information means nothing to a self-serving popinjay like Al Gore. He and Michael Moore would make a cute pair at the Oscars. Maybe they could run on the Green Party ticket in '08 - I can see the GORE/MOORE bumper stickers now.
