Glitches in the system

No computer system is perfect and neither are the people running them...

If you've had a misfire and been resolved...

Please post any problems and resolutions to any nagging problems that pop up regarding computerized system...

1. Split load designated as a straight trick load 1st leg run by CV or Sprinter....xdocked at Taylor and went to Canada DOCK high only...
I Applied for layover....DENIED?
Reason...They looked at the load that was a straight truck load....NOT realizing a sprinter ME did the 1st leg...It was an 810 mile load so I would have to take my 10 before layover clock would start....
Error was corrected when Tim and I worked together and found the problem...

2. Re. Northridge Ohio....sytem does not for some reason on Tims software give him a choice of the 2 Northridges...I saw it for myself..automatically brought up the one near Columbus and NO choice to select the one near Dayton.

Again Tim and I worked together calmly and respectfully.

Most problems can be worked through when both parties handle them professionally and work thru the facts together. Sounds so simple, but it is often the missing piece.

It was great..Tim got me a chair and he showed me on his computer the step by step process and together we figured out where the errors occurred...
Example on the Northridge issue..on his screen when he typed in Northridge Ohio...only 1 appeared..the wrong one...he was not given a choice...
After all that Load 1 does for us CV's/Sprinters...layover, empty moves..do you really believe they are out to screw ya outta $3.60?.....;)

The Saga of the Black Mailbox and Missing Paperwork Glitch....

I was at The Yard and had my paperwork for November (first 10 days or so) in the Black Mailbox after hours. Have a discussion on EO about not using the Black Mailbox. Dispatch or Black Mailbox after hours? No one knows. Will get a definitive answer tomorrow. In the meantime I get a load, so I leave and take my paperwork with me, out of the Black Mailbox, 'cause I don't want to leave it in there at this point, all orphaned and such. Never know what perils await. Next day on EO, it's to be turned in to Dispatch. OK, next time I'm at The Yard I will do just that if it's after hours.

Hadn't been back to the yard since the Black Mailbox decision. Then the other day (the day before Thanksgiving) I get a call telling me that I need to turn in paperwork or I won't get paid. I'm missing paperwork for September and October, they tell me (which is in effect telling me that, other than the first week I was with Load 1, I hadn't turned in any paperwork at all). Knowing that I had, in fact, turned in all paperwork for September and October, and because of the Black Mailbox extravaganza and the timing of it all I still have the (now) three weeks of November with me, I ask what, exactly are they missing from September and October.

Admin: Everything from October that hasn't been turned in.

{September and October has suddenly become October}

Me: I have nothing whatsoever from October. It's all been turned in. I know that because I put it in the file cabinet, in the file folder with my name on it, myself. I did not misfile it, because I double-checked.

Me: So, what, specifically, is missing from October?

Admin: Just a second, lemme look..... We're missing November 4th.

A genuine "Panther Moment" glitch, that one was. Ah, the memories....}

Admin: You need to turn that in soon as you can. We have a customer requesting the originals.

Me: Well, I have a load delivering to the crossdock at The Yard tomorrow (Thanksgiving). Is that soon enough?

Admin: Oh, sure. No problem. Just whenever you get to The Yard next will be fine.

It took some doing to actually get to the facts, but once we got there it was pretty easy to work through it and solve the problem in a calm, professional manner. :D

Learned from a lesson in 1989, I always get 3 copies of the BOL from the shippper to leave with, one for me, Load One, and the consignee.And have all 3 signed for by the consignee.So, that,if anything gets lost, I have something to fall back on

I am wondering if a solution to the GPS feature not working on the Qualcomm is near anytime soon? It is a nice thing to have, a backup to my GPS, and would find some addresses that my GPS could not find.

We did solve the mailbox problem....we took it down :D.

Paperwork should be turned into admin during regular hours. After hours it should be turned in to operations. If you are not going to be in the yard for a while, just drop the originals into the old snail mail attention admin.

Guido....give up trying.

I understand all that. You missed my.point. Perhaps I was too subtle. She kept saying I was missing paperwork for October. All of October. When pressed to find out exactly what I was missing from October, she finally says November 4th, which is not exactly in October.

Wow, it's like, deja vu all over again.

That shows you how un-apt we are at speed reading. Sorry about that, not sure why she would say that, but I can ask if you would like?

Thanks, but no need. It seems quite obvious why she would say that, on a harried payroll day Wednesday with Thanksgiving the next, trying to do too many things at once to get it all done. I'd be surprised if she (how did you know it was a "she"? I never said "she"? :D ) would remember the conversation - she had to ask someone else what, exactly, they were missing.

My incredible powers of intuition, combined with no "he's" in that group made it a logical call! :D

My Qualcomm has crashed twice today stating an error message "Bad Pool Caller". After Reboot it is alright. Is there a system problem going on or does this this need to be looked at :confused:
