When I saw your first post, I thought the "glider" referred to that wing drivers put on the sleeper roof to divert air over the trailer.
OK, I'm not Mr. Pete 359, obviously:D
But I have NEVER heard of what you are referring to as a glider ever avaailble anywhere, at least not in my lifetime. The cabs of trucks built today are each set up to use a specific engine, most of the considerations are electrical and climate control. I don't know for sure, but I'll bet you cannot even special order a KW "glider" from Paccar. I think you have to buy a chassis equipped with at least the cab, engine, and tranny nowadays.
If other EO members know more on this subject, please post.

Not to be nosey or anything, but why would one buy a glider kit and not the whole truck???

If this kit is 55k and a complete truck is 90k then I assume the rears and 5th wheel with labor cost 35k???

I saw a real jet airplane kit cost 1million, but if you wanted it built and painted, ready to fly the cost was now 9million. That blew my mind!!!

I have not seen anything like that for sale befrore. Now I see they are wired for a specific engine, so it makes a little more sense to me now.
I'll keep on the lookout at any dealerships I go to. That Pete looks like something someone ordered for a specific application with the double frame, but didn't follow through on.
Is there a huge difference between the KW W900 and the Pete 379?
I guess it wouldn't be too bad a deal if you have your own components or could buy like new components off a wrecked truck to put something together.

The answer to the question is, I am look for a truck set up the way I want it without spending the bank or waiting 6 months to get it.

A friend and former co-driver of mine say's the 55k is high. This glider has been marked up by the dealer, then marker up by the man selling it. This is one of the reason I was looking elseware. 90k for a W-900 is a steal, they start at 110k and up.

A month ago, Ed (the person whom has the glider for sale)had 8 Pete's gliders setting at his shop. I have a very good friend who builds up gliders from wrecked trucks, mostly international and freigtliners. His family trucks' milk from the farm to the factory. They build truck to haul milk for themselfs and other. He also has a small salvage yard. He bought a 2003 T-800 which had a heavy piece of steel drouped on the cab, bending the frame and totaling the cab. It was purchased from the insurance co. for under 25k, with a good motor and drive train. The wreck has less than 100,000 miles on it.

Chances are, you have seen one and you just didn't know it was a glider. The company I work for built and sold about 400 gliders last year. They just order the truck from the factory and it comes completed from the factory with everything but the motor and transmission. Then they install a rebuilt motor and transmission and you can buy the complete truck for 98,500 (for a Freightliner Coronado Condo Raised Roof). You can check out our facebook profile at ..........

Fitz, you're about 5 years late with your reply. But since you're here, do they come with any length frame rails?
