Give me Water I have no Bread

I must admit, DaveKC, that I was surprised by your reply.

Reality IS... that's it.
It's like TRUTH... Truth IS True... that's it.
Now, a person can make choices but that does not change Reality (or Truth).
(example...
a person can choose to believe the earth is flat, but the Reality IS... it's round..)

I'd guess we are about the same age and we have seen common events over the years. Have you never seen someone enter a career/profession and during the early years begin to build the American dream. They use a careful budget but as their wages increase,
they invest in a home, kids, etc.... (again, the American Dream)

Suddenly, there are major changes in the REALITY of their career/profession. There is a downturn, layoffs, and finally everything goes bust. Is this Reality based upon their careful, responsible personal choices which they made...???

Or is it a REALITY based upon events totally beyond their (our) control.

What about you, DaveKC... what if Transportation were to suddenly go bust like dozens of other American industries. And beyond your DESIRE to be an honest responsible guy you now faced bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossessions, homelessness, and abject poverty. Is this REALITY caused by your simple choices...???

It happened in the "great depression" and it has happened to thousands of honest, responsible Americans who faced a REALITY beyond any choice they made. They had no time to react... Reality came suddenly....

And that, Sir, is my point... to get folks to open their eyes to Reality. Not just this-or-that symptom upon which they are currently focused.

But there is hope.... (and it's not any religion)
Look beyond the symptoms
(economy, weather, wars, politics, injustice, destruction, seemingly unbridled evil...)

Wise Men (and Women) still seek HIM...

ps... HE is "the Water" and "the Bread"

I think it is a matter of looking at "whether the glass is half empty, or half full". If expediting ceased to exist tomarrow, my world would be far from over. Why? Because I have made the investments and personal choices to avoid that type of adversity. In my younger days when people bought that house on the corner with the thirty year mortgage, I was buying the junk house that no one wanted. As I lived in one and fixed it up, I moved to another AFFORDABLE one. Again, personal choices. If one is to borrow, than they are assuming a risk. Short of a handful of professions and businesses, nothing is gauranteed.
As for the great depression, many suffered and many prospered. My grandparents adapted as they were in agriculture. Again it is about adaptation. People had to eat, which provided opportunity.
Imagine that

Thanks DaveKC,

As for me, I'll take the "Cup that is overflowing"...

I was encouraging folks to consider Reality will beyond the temporal...

I was just using ONE of the many symptoms/warnings
as an example... in this case, our failing economy

And, DaveKC, you're correct... it is a choice...

Choose wisely.....

Some excellent points made earlier. Do things that will make you more profitable, change some of the things you do, push yourself to get more out of each day, etc.
Do you see the key factor in this - it is you!
Stop complaining about how your carrier is out to get you, how they are out to screw you, how the world is all against you, how all the big companies are making money by shafting you.
STOP WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO HELP YOU - STOP WAITING FOR EVERYONE AROUND YOU TO CHANGE - STOP USING OTHER PEOPLE FOR YOUR FAILURES OR YOUR REASONING FOR YOUR LACK OF PROFIT.
I see so many drivers whipping by me 10,15 miles over the speed limit, which burns more fuel, increases maintenance on the truck. I see so many drivers even over an entire weekend idle the truck - once again burning more fuel and increasing maintenance cost.....and the list goes on and on.
I see so many drivers eat meal after meal in the truckstops, wasting money on video games - instead of preparing meals in the truck and maybe watching FREE tv in the truck or in the lounge, or hey take a walk around the parking lot, in a nearby shopping center, etc.
We can all make a decent living at this. Its just a matter of which of us once to take control over our own actions or which of us wants to continue on this path of blaming everyone else for our misactions.
