Hi there!
I've never been in this situation before, but I'm hoping someone can help me. I've been trucking OTR for the last 6 years. I bought a house last July, and had a friend of mine move in with his wife to take care of the landscaping/etc. while I was on the road. You all know that for every 3 weeks out, you only get 3 days a month home. Plus, they are paying me rent to live here.(it's a 3 bedroom mobile home). His sister houses their mother up in New York, but she needed a desperate break from the 'old lady', so she flew mom down here. (I was on the road anyway...and I didn't think she's be much of a hassle). Well, 'mom' is 76 and has taken over the house. She is more of a child than my 2 year old grandson. She sulks like a baby when she doesn't get her own way, she's taken over the recliner in the livingroom, and has a hissy fit if you change the tv channel (even if she's sleeping!) She had been hounding us about her wanting to make a roast pork dinner since she got here in September. At first we told her it was too hot(Florida) to turn the oven on, but we finally gave in. New Year's Eve we had roast pork and dumplings for dinner. Even tho only 3 of us ate the roast pork, she insisted on buying 11 pounds of it. Anyway, while she was preparing the meal, she put a pot (that had been hot and was now sitting on a potholder) back on the stove (yes, with the potholder still attached to the bottom) and started a fire in my kitchen. After we got that out, she then started to make the gravy, and put my large glass 13x9 pyrex baking dish on the front burner of my electric stove. As soon as the glass hit the heated burner, it exploded all over my kitchen...I had to literally tear down the stove to get at all the glass, grease, etc. This woman is really starting to scare the heck out of me. We have decided that she should not be left alone to cook. Which brings me to my dilemma. I can give anyone any info they want, if they send me a private email (and putting 'truckerchat' in the subject line). I have helped alot of other fellow truckers out there over the last 6 years, and I am hoping that some of the truckers can help me. I don't feel safe leaving her home alone while we all work (afterall, it is MY house), and I was wondering if everyone would send me atleast $1.00. If you write your address on the envelope, I will make sure you get your money back(this year). This old woman goes home sometime in March, and although I would never do anything to hurt or harm her, March won't be here soon enough. I sure hope my mom doesn't wind up like this. I am trying to start doing income taxes from the house, and I'd gladly do your taxes, or even become your bookkeeper. I worked at the IRS for 5 years, and know some of their 'tricks'. Just contact me through my email, '[email protected]'
The 'ototw' stands for 'On Top of the world', not ottawa. I sure hope some of you truckers have it in your heart to help me out while I'm home 'babysitting' this woman, and I promise to return every dime I can borrow. May God Bless you and your families while you are out there on the road, and while you are home enjoying them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
