Don't know if anyone noticed this yet, but couple years ago us drivers only used to be "harassed" right around DOT days. Now, with this economy, there are random days that random states decide to be out everywhere for that day. And I mean everywhere they can.
Difference is if you get pulled in it's pretty much an automatic level 1. they'll spend the 45-60 minutes on you. As said, just have a nice truck and paperwork AT ALL TIMES, and you'll be fine.
Funny thing is, I'm always ready for the DOT days, and I roll through the scales praying they pull me in so I can stick it in their face and say booyah b!tches! but it never happens.
When you try to avoid them it does, but never when you want them to do it lol...
These annual events have never meant anything different for Diane and me. We've seen the scales more active but have never been pulled in for an inspection while the blitz is on that I recall. And if you are pulled in, would it be any different than any other roadside inspection you might receive?
Ummm yeah..... Don't run dirty and you won't have any problems.

It is different in my view, it is the ultimate in the government trampling our rights. They are actively saying that they don't care about our rights and making a big show of it, I find it very disrespectful.

I agree with you that the government is gradually and increasingly erroding our rights and the founding fathers would not recognize today the country they founded two centuries ago. But in the case of an annual truck inspection blitz, what rights are being violated? In what way is it disrespectful?
My fleet will all be indoors, under lock and key, during that period.
No sense taking any chances...

I don't want to take this thread down a path that will land it in the Soapbox forum so I'll provide this link without further comment. It links to an article about vehcile inspections and the driver's Fourth and Fifth Ammendment rights.
