Well Doug and Greg it's like this, I entered into a partnership not a boss employee relationship with the person I'm with.

So for the record Let it be known I'm not an Employee.

Now The reason for the post was that an uneducated person ran their mouth.

Let it be known if you don't know what your talking about then don't say anything no matter how good your niter cap talks are. Ya 's get my drift.

Now back to the real deal I here that some companies are not accepting any more Trucks. I also here that a new RIF has started.

Well if that be the case hey I'm going to find a Rig (Tractor ) that's Canada and CA Compliant. My cousin John Ray Dowdy who is Head Master Mechanic at Volvo Mac in Sioux Land area tells me that their is a speed limiter Governor that can be installed that's Canada compliant and can be disabled Legally once back on the American (USA) Side. HMMM I'm going to look into that closely. Never herd of that one before, (How ever if its like that road burner Exhaust switch which made the Ridge runner quite in town but throw the switch out in the country and The sound of Straight Header well hey I say cool. Lets rock it.)
If this is accurate about the Speed Governor it will be an asset not only to me but to what ever company I choose to go with. Many here may dispute the above but hey the more benny's ya got in your bag of tricks the more work ya can do.

With that being said their are a lot of Trucks that are too long to go to Canada and in the upcoming months their will be a lot of reefers not able to do CA. Interesting isn't it.
So I'm looking for Tractor 2007 or newer with less than 225000 miles and a reefer that will make the 2010 2012 CA standards. My Tractor will come first then the Trailer.
I want my own Tractor irregardless.

Last niter I worked out and Even did my Inverted sit ups just like In Rocky 5 in the Barns hay mall. try hanging upside down in trailer using load bars to lock your legs and do inverted sit ups match it if you can. Push ups one handed not a problem. Then ran a few measly miles.

I'm Hungry really Hungry can ya tell.

Pretty slick way of getting a truck. I hope you are sharing the costs, it is good that you can write off more now than as a sub-contractor.

A speed limiter is not something else installed on your engine . You just set the ECM at that speed . Almost any diesel shop can reset it in minutes . As for you not being an employee, well partnerships are not employer/employee arrangements. I think that you will get a W2 if it is setup right.

The speed limiter thing is funny, I wouldn't trust joejimmybob at any dealer with tricks that can screw up my ECM to save any headaches with the OPP.

But again I am not really running in Canada and haven't in a while.

When I do, I know what I need to do to get by, and I only look at it as one more thing that makes me more marketable because people will p*ss and moan about their laws and how unfair it is to get the truck 'fixed' and they will refuse to spend the $75 to get it done. By the way does anyone know what the fines are going to be for them finding the device to adjust the speed?

Gregg any service center with a computer and the password for you motor can reset the ECM to any speed.Canadian law states that once set it cant be reset to to the original speed.So therefore,you will have to run the lower 48 the same as in Canada.The other provinces of Canada are fighting this law.Just read fine can be anywhere from 200 to 20000 bucks.I was told by officials in Canada,if I get cought againg my fine would be 10000 nad thats just because I have a long wheel base truck,pulling a 53 ft trailer

Steve, how would they know it was changed back, unless they update the firmware in the ECM to track the changes, there is nothing they can do to detect a change.

Say you replace the ECM, will that effect their determination on when, where and by whom it was changed?

I know that a lot of shops can make the change, there is two companies that will be selling things you plug into the Deutch plug that will change it but at this point, hitting the border with the change is the best thing and a lot of people will not do that - they want freedom.
