LAST EDITED ON Jun-15-01 AT 04:29AM (EDT)[p]I was planning on becoming an expediter until I read
the opinions of experienced expediters in this forum.
you're sitting around for days waiting for a load, the fierce competion from other expediters, no backhauls ect.
I'm an enterprising individual and my question to the
expediters is, how come you don't contract with 5 different
companies in order to get flooded with offers.(hopefully)

my next question is, can this be done without getting
caught and fired by these companies and also, is it legal
to try such a thing? I can see right now there's no way I'm going to get into this expediting business under just 1 company.
you'd go broke.

Genius,
Good Luck dealing with all the bureacracy, inspections, and out of service placements you'll encounter with trying to do this. Also, you'll need a pretty big paperwork file to store all the different BOL's. Just hope you don't submit the ppwk from a LEA run to FECC - "Ooops!"

how come you don't contract with 10 different
companies in order to get flooded with offers. if you did
this, you'd be able to turn down offers at will with all
the work being offered by multiple companies.

Hey Goomba what the heck do you think our companies are for? They go through brokers & agents who deal with this headache. They filter it down to our companies who try to find drivers to do the jobs for next to nothing paywise.
Just try doing this by yourself with 2 companies & one truck & see what happens. Ever try to be in Riverside & Camarillo at the same time? The problem is you can sit around till noon with no phone calls, & then your phone starts ringing. What are you going to do, tell everybody "No, I can't do that run", waiting for the perfect run to come up? You could wait a lifetime. You are not in the position to view all the runs listed in front of you at the begining of the week so you can pick & choose your work. Wouldn't it be nice if we all had crystal balls so we could look towards the future?

You are right, you do not check out this sight very often, or know anything about the expediting industry.
