Check out what this guy did for rear exterior mounting, around 2:38 on the vid:
Rear Bumper Swing Outs. No weight on the rear doors, and looks like they would swing out easily, quickly, and without hassle for expediting. Pretty cool, I think, and I'd like something like that for when I switch my rig over for vancamping.
Took me some close listening and a couple of searches, but found the bumper he is talking about, at Aluminess Bumpers. Haven't investigated the cost yet, but see he has Splinter bumpers, too.
I also saw a guy who came up with some innovative uses for custom made trailer hitch-mounted swing outs, and uses them for a small kayak, whatever. They swing out and away or just taken right off, but I can't find his page again.
