what is the normal gas amount that you will use for 1300 miles a week in a cargo van

It all depends on how and where you drive. If you keep it under 65 mph, don't idle and don't have a heavy foot off the line then 15 mpg would be a conservative estimate to work with. 1300 miles divided by 15 mpg equals 86.66 gallons.

That's a similar question to "how high is up?". What year/make/model/specs van? Summer or winter? Driving where? Best case scenario for 1300 miles maybe 60 gallons, worst case maybe 110 gallons depending on the answer to the questions.

Yeah it is. I figured a general type question called for a general type answer. 15 mpg should be a conservative figure to base the performance of a cargo van (Ford, GM). Sure there are extremes but I think 15 mpg is a good working number.

I agree. Anyone who can't usually coax 15mpg out of a properly set up, tuned and maintained van has way to heavy a right foot. My scanguage mpg is 17.2 and my math mpg is 16.85 on gasoline. I could do better by slowing down and I could do worse by zooming away from stops like some guys I see. The funny thing is that I see them over and over as I catch back up to them again and again.

I listened to an "Expert" on the noon News today. He say's Gas will average $3.19 a gallon for 2011 and $3.27 for 2012. Would guess Diesel will stay around $.25 higher.

Guess diesel will not be going up anymore if your expert is correct. It is already $.25 higher than $3.19

I didn't say anything about Diesel price being $3.19. I clearly said Gas, there is a difference.

bill, re-read his statement. he said diesel is already a quarter higher then $3.19. it was 3.37 in ark this morning and the bp 87 was 2.899. that is more than a quarter.
