Greg, by consciousness, I mean that the average citizens become more aware of our problems and take actions in their own way to help. Maybe park the big gas guzler and drive a more economical car to work.
Maybe car pool on occasion with a co worker. What I am talking about is just trying to slow down the stranglehold the middle east has on us.
In the 60's we became very environmentally concious but I also agree we went overboard and groups like Earthfirst, Sierra Club Greenpeace etc. caused more harm then good for our economy. I am all for new Nuclear power plants, drilling in Anwar and off the Calif coast as far as that goes, more wind farms (yeah and even off Ted Kennedys deck in Mass lol) and feel the government should be giving tax credits to people who install power saving devices.
What I was trying to say in my previous post is that we have had 33 years to work on this oil problem, since the trouble started in the middle east, and all I hear is, about George Bush and his oil buddies.
Hell, I didn't see Bill Clinton do much about the problem in 8 years.
So, I just feel that higher prices might have the effect of spurring the people, government, industry etc to take action quicker.
Just my thoughts???? I may be all full of it
